5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good......
This mailbox is a replacement for one that was pried open. It is quite sturdy as well as attractive. The price is moderate when compared to what is out there on the market. In order to make the mounting sturdier I drilled 2 holes throught the back of the cabinet, through the garage wall and then a 2 x 4. Then I bolted it all together. The only downside that I see is that...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Weatherproof!!!
I purchased this item with great joy... it exactly matched the color of my new siding. Also, functional, nicely designed and wouldn't stand out on the front of my house. Too good to be true. Well, "form follows function" went out the window with this one... mail boxes are an outdoor item. I ordered it in late August - it was put up in October - in April my nephew, who is...

In order to make the mounting sturdier I drilled 2 holes throught the back of the cabinet, through the garage wall and then a 2 x 4. Then I bolted it all together. The only downside that I see is that the lock lever could be longer in order to slow down vandals a bit more. I didn't find anything sturdier though.

Well, "form follows function" went out the window with this one... mail boxes are an outdoor item. I ordered it in late August - it was put up in October - in April my nephew, who is tall enough to see the top of the mailbox, noticed it was very rusty. Very, very very rusty, almost the entire top was rust. What a shame; I'm very disappointed!

Excellent mailbox. Looks great, while the locking feature helps with safety. Only complaint: some mail got wet during a downpour. I think it came from the mail slot.

5.0 out of 5 stars LUNADSA WALL MAILBOX, January 3, 2007
I RUN A SMALL BUSINESS OUT OF MY HOME SO EVERY DAY I GET SEVERAL MAGAZINES AND CATALOGS AS WELL AS BILLS AND PERSONAL MAIL. I NEEDED A MAIL BOX LARGE ENOUGH TO ACCOMODATE ALL OF THIS MAIL. THE LUNADA MAILBOX FITS THE BILL. I LOVE IT, AND MY MAIL CARRIER EVEN RANG MY BELL TO TELL ME "THANKS".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price for what you get, February 21, 2007

Can't beat what you get for the price - it looks good, is sturdy, easy to install, and you get to choose which color you want to match your home.

Downsides: the hole for the mail is big enough for someone to reach down and grab the top portions of your mail. The lock sticks so that it is difficult to insert your key inside - may have to replace the lock.

4.0 out of 5 stars A compromise between looks and security for a security mailbox., June 13, 2006

It could be sturdier. The metal is moderately thin. Possibly, a small hand can reach in and take something from mail sticking up halfway up from the bottom. However, this is the most attractive wall mailbox for my home I've found that is also lockable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Attractive design, accomodates lots of mail, slightly more secure than no lock, September 4, 2010

We genuinely like the styling of this mailbox. We purchased it to replace a mail-slot in our front door (which was not well insulated) and have installed it near the front door of our grey center-hall colonial home and it looks great. Our mailman was particularly pleased to see it as he no longer needs to open our storm door to get to our old mail slot.

PROS
1. Attractive, sleek design
2. Mail slot accomodates a generous amount of mail
3. Installs easily into wood

CONS
1. The lock is pretty flimsy, but it's better than no lock and will probably deter the casual thief who walks up and hopes to quickly swipe your mail. However, see #2 below...
2. Because the mail slot is generously sized, someone with average-sized hands can fairly easily slide their hand inside and take our your mail.
3. The mailbox is not water-tight, and in a downpour your mail is very likely to get wet unless you take steps to seal the seams somehow, or install this under a portico or roof
4. No outgoing mail flag to alert your mail delivery person to outgoing mail. However, this is not a big deal if you drop off your mail at a mailbox as we do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine Mailbox, August 15, 2009

Installed easily, although I used larger screws than those provided. It seems quite secure. As another reviewer noted, a small hand could possibly fit inside to retrieve some mail, but this would be a challenge if mounted at eye level...and anyone that serious about stealing mail could pry the box open. The opening fits magazines and almost all routine mail items. It is large and can accomodate a lot of mail, yet one of the more attractive mailboxes we've seen. The "bronze" finish is almost black.

This ia a spacious mail box, that is easy to empty. You won't loose mail at bottom like a top loader
