Book Description

The Architecture Career Guide, by ArchitectureCrossing, provides readers with an assortment of articles written by professionals in the field of architecture. This e-book goes beyond the traditional architectural study topics and explores areas of importance to both practicing architects and those seeking a career in the industry. It examines the numerous fields that are impacted by architects, including landscaping, historical building preservation, beautification, and environmental or “greening” projects.

With a 16 percent increase in employment forecasted for architects between 2008 and 2018, the field is ideal for young talent. The Architecture Career Guide provides information on the professional degrees, courses, training standards, and examinations that are required of practicing architects, as well as the state level and continuing education requirements that are expected in some locations.

In addition to addressing education and training requirements, this e-book also addresses the general job market outlook for this industry. Articles within the e-book provide insight into what employers are seeking in an employee as well as providing job candidates advice on how to effectively market their skills. Online marketing techniques, cross-marketing, retaining employees, and other means of advancing business are also discussed within the articles.

By providing the reader with a thorough understanding of how careers in architecture have changed over time and what is expected of the modern architect, those interested in the industry are provided with a better understanding of where the industry is headed in the future and how that may impact their careers. The book offers discussions on both common and cutting-edge use of aquatics, LED architecture, solar energy, and the growing demand for environmentally sustainable designs.

As well as giving a general overview of the career of the architect, the e-book also delves into career specifics for professional home designers and those pursuing an architectural design career. It also tackles the many skills that are crucial to a successful career as an architect, including creativity, strong communication, management, design, supervision, and engineering architecture skills.

This e-book is essential for anyone who is pursuing a career in architecture or interested in learning more about the expectations, challenges, and rewards of such a career. The Architecture Career Guide is also available in a PDF version.
