Worth a read,

This review is from: Architecture in the Scandinavian Countries (Hardcover)
This work might have gotten only three stars, but for the fact that there is little else to compare with it.
Works on Copenhagen and Stockholm are simply less instructive of the whole of the contribution of architects in this region. This work is reasonably complete, but it is written in a somewhat dry style and has perhaps somewhat of an uneven structure. The Stockholm City Hall is given much less credit than it receives at the end of Pevsner's work on European Architecture. {This work however is perhaps one of only 2 in the Scandinavian Countries that manages to make its way into this authoritative work for much of the rest of the continent!} Another deficit is the Black and White illustrations, though not an overwhelming one. I do wish more alternatives were available in this field. |
