The central topics are preservation and conservation covering areas such as conservation in current town planning, engineering and other technical problems, and aesthetic and political considerations. All are documented by actual examples ranging from exhibition halls to single family homes, and from the restoration of single buildings to the rebuilding of an entire urban area. This section is followed by an assessment of the architects Max Cetto and Hans Poelzig. The text is in German but there are English language summaries for every essay and project.
