Archos Battery Docking Adapter for 405, 605, and 705 Players

For starters the Archos 605 would have been better off as having a removable battery but since owners of this unit aren't so fortunate the next best alternative is this - it's not bad at all. It's a bit strange in specs; especially when attached to the player but it does it's job well and that's to extend the battery life on the player itself. It can be attached to the Archos and one can still use the kickstand on the player to watch videos, etc.

I just wish that the battery dock was a tad smaller than what it is. Combined with the player (while attached) it is not the most of comfortable things to carry in your pocket. Would I recommend? Absolutely.

I have an Archos 605 80GB and I purchased the battery dock for a trip I am taking soon. Without the dock my 605 will run playing movies, with wifi off, for about 4:20. I tested with the dock and 605 fully charged and it ran for just over 7 hours. So this gives a good boost to battery life.

Charging works much faster then via USB and about the same as my DVR Station. The usb ports work, not much more to be said. The tv out is about what you would expect for composite. I recomend the DVR Station if you want quality tv out, it has component out and digital audio.

My one complaint about this device is the form factor. It works fine if you just stand up the 605 using the kick stand, but it is awkward to hold in your hand and even worse to put in a pocket. The primary issue is it is about twice the depth of the 605 itself so sticks far out in front of the device. I see why they did this, to allow the kick stand to continue to work, but that does not change the impact of the shape.

Overall this is an excellent product to take on a trip but I would not want to use it for around town.

Not only is the battery dock a smaller way to charge my Archos 605, but the fact that the dock is a USB hub was invaluable in my trip to Italy. I had almost run out of memory for my Nikon D200 when I simply downloaded the images to my 605 via the battery dock. Definitely worth the money.

Long trip with new battery

This is a great addition to the archos unit. This will allow you to connect your archos unit to any TV to view movies, photos or videos. Also will provide an additional couple of hours of battery life.

Gave me the ability to plug the archos into the wall. As for battery life, I was lucky to get an extra 20 min of video watching.

To really get the extra battery life out of your Archos 605 wifi, this is the ticket. You don't need a computer with this, you can charge and it even has a USB port to transfer files, photos, movies and music. Check out the Archos Forum for how to use and you can even add an external portable battery charger to this battery charger for really long trips to your Archos going strong!!!

The fact that this product is necessary in the first place annoys me a bit. I wish that my archos 605 was able to output video on its own and have replaceable batteries removing the need for this, but this product did everything it was supposed to splendidly. I was able to watch four feature length movies on it during my last car trip without having to plug my archos in for a charge.

I bought the battery docking adapter on October 7,2010 and I primarily use it as an extra battery for my Archos 605 wifi. I have only used it to connect to a tv twice before. I connected it last night, and it does not recognize it, even though the back-up battery does work. I am disappointed with Archos and the seller. I knew this was refurbished, but I was hoping to get more than 5 months out of the dock before I chucked it in the garbage. And at $50 for a refurb, it didn't come cheap either. Never again will I buy from Archos, or this seller who do not seem to think Customer service is a priority.
