I've only used my Clipper a couples times and I'm already very impressed. The drag-and-drop software makes it very easy to add music since I dont have to bother with installing any additional software. The buttons are large and well placed to make changing songs easy without looking. For the price its an exceptional deal. The only complaint I have is the headphones. The ear buds seem to be the wrong shape to stay in my ears. For this price though, its easy enough to pick up an aftermarket pair thats more comfortable. You get quite a lot from the Clipper in a small package for a small price. I definiatly recommend this for music on the go.

I bought this for my husband just because. It's awesome. Sound is good, easily to load, no annoying software. The only thing he doesn't like is that sometimes it's hard to tell if it's on shuffle because there's no screen. Other than that, it's wonderful. He wears it all over- even while cleaning or doing dishes. I/we recommend it. Lol.

Bought this for my wife so she could have a small mp3 player for her long distance runs. This one was tiny, lightweight and had all the features needed for running. My wife was excited to try it because it is so small and light. The problem was that after a few songs during her runs the music would stop and the unit would start beeping. She had to find a tiny stick by the side of the road to reset the player. She started carrying a paper clip with her so she could reset it more easily. After a short time she gave up and had me send it back for another. Amazon quickly replaced it and she was excited that initially the new one did not have the same problem. Soon after as she was running her first marathon the unit quit playing music and started beeping for her last 6 miles. Not a good time to lose your music. We are not happy with the Archos Clipper and will be sending this one back for a refund.

Very satisified; will update if anything goes wrong.
Positives: cheap, perfectly lightweight and super small for working out (running, etc.). Negative: can't tell how charged the battery is; doesn't have enough volume for those who like it really loud (but is loud enough for me running on treadmill); don't lose the small audio to USB cable that connects to computer; instructions splayed by so many friggin' languages; here they are summarized: Archos MP3 Player Instructions Note: a special connector comes with the unit for connecting the RCA jack (upper left side) to a computer USB socket or charger. * Upper left side socket: combination headphone and USB jack * Middle left side LED: - blinks fast when music playing, slow when music paused - when connected to computer (by included RCA to USB cable): blinks fast when charging, stays on when fully charged * Upper right slide button: lock / unlock * Middle play button - Press once: play / pause - Hold 2 seconds: normal / shuffle (will beep once or twice accordingly) - Long hold: turn on / off * Left top ( bottom) buttons - Press once: previous (next) song - Hold down: fast reverse (forward) - In paused mode: jump to previous (next) folder * Right top (bottom) buttons: volume up and down * Transferring files: standard Windows copy / paste * Transferring files: Windows Media Player sync - Select the sync tab. - Drag music to sync panel on right. - Click the 'Start Sync' button.

I bought this because I needed a light and unobtrusive mp3 player for when I go running and didn't want to get an iPod shuffle (too expensive, and I hate iTunes). This is works perfectly for running. It's small and light so that it doesn't pull on my clothes when I run, and the clip holds it securely. It's a little bigger than an iPod shuffle, but it's not necessarily a bad thing because the buttons are bigger and therefore easier to push without looking. That leads me to the design of the product itself, which I'm a fan of. The space on the front of the player is perfectly utilized - nothing is wasted on fluff or useless things. It's all buttons that are easy to find and memorize. The few complaints I have are that it's difficult to tell if shuffle is on or off, since there is no visual indicator, and there is a slight pause between songs instead of continuous play, but these are trivial things and for the price I am happy to overlook them. I'm definitely a big fan of the fact that the player functions like a flash drive in that you just plug it in to your computer, drag and drop your music, and are done. No stupid software to install and sync through (*cough* iTunes I'm looking at you). This is a great, basic little player if that's what you're looking for.

So far, I agree with all of the positive reviews. It's an awesome MP3 player without features that may not be allowed in some workplaces.
One thing that I should mention is the device is recharged using the 3.5mm headphone jack. I never seen that before and think it's very clever, but I do not see a way to charge and listen at the same time. Not very useful to me, but it may be useful to others.

exactly what it seems like people, its an ipod shuffle for half the price and it works great, very light weight, i use it at gym daily, although little slow to turn off/on once learn buttons everything works perfectly. Recomended if want to stay away from overpriced apple fads.
ARCHOS FTW I also own Archos 5 IMT 160gb and Archos 5 Android IT 32gb.

like the size, but it is lacking on\off and shuffle buttons, so it is really difficult to get used to this player. besides, it is way too slow.
Given that iPod shuffle is almost 3 times more expensive and 2 less handy, it is a really good deal

I have actually only tried to load music on this once so far, so maybe the solution is more simple than I've given this product the chance for. BUT, my main complaint is that I can't erase the music that is already on it. There are a couple songs on the player already, and I don't want them on there. I thought I'd deleted them when I had it connected to my computer. When I turned the actual player on, the songs were still there.
Also, this player does not take M4a format files. With most people, that probably won't be an issue though. |
