DVR Travel Adapter,

This review is from: Archos DVR Travel Adapter (Electronics)
I have the DVR addition for the 504 and enjoyed it so much I thought it would be nice to beable to play my movies on any tv, so I got the dvr travel adaptor. Well to my suprise you can not play from your archos to any tv with this just record. So if you want to play from your archos you will need the DVR not the Travel DVR Adaptor.

A little disappointed,

I was a little disappointed with this accessory, because although it does what it says it does, it doesnt actually do everything right out of the box.
Yes, you can use itto charge your Archos, but you have to buy the power adapter separately. Yes, you can use it to store pictures from a digital camera, but the input wire provided is a VIDEO input (the kind with thre wires - two audio and one video) so... you can plug it into a dvd or vcr or even a cam-coreder, but not a digital camera. I thought about using this on vacation. I could download pictures from my little digital camera whenever the card filled up, and keep my archos charged! Great idea, if I fork out $ for 2 more wires. I don't even know what kind of wire would even work for a digital camera. I assume its something I need to get from Archos since I have never seen a wire from camera to mini plug like this. For what it actually can do out of the box, the dvr station which I already had does too, and it comes with the necessary wires. So... in conclusion, its a handy accessory, but it's not a complete package. As is I havent used it once since I got it because I dont have the wires I need, and the dvr station is all I really needed. Since the DVR station isn't really THAT big, I could probably use that on vacation too... but since I already bought the travel adapter, I probably will end up getting whatever other wires I need. I LOVE my Archos, and thats the only reason I have ended up spending so much money on all the add-ons. It is the only product I've seen that actually IS worth it!

This review is from: Archos DVR Travel Adapter (Electronics)
I purchased the travel adapter to use with a previously purchased bullet camera (it's a little better than the Archos helmet cam).
The adapter attaches pretty securely to the bottom of the Archos with a hook that latches into it. The left side of the adapter has a 3.5mm audio video input and comes with the appropriate cable for connecting to the adapter. The supplied cable has a 3.5mm A/V jack on one end and 3 rca's (left/right audio and the third is video)on the other end. Next to the 3.5mm A/V input is some other type of connector for A/V input that none of the Archos manuals have any details about. I personally have never seen this other type of A/V connector. None the less, the adapter comes with the appropriate cable to connect to just about any device. The right side of the adapter has a DC jack for a charger which, sadly, does not come with this particular adapter. The DC charging transformer that comes with the Archos docking adapter works just fine with the DVR adapter. I bought the Archos docking adapter in addition to the dvr adapter, because of the usb A input. I can connect my usb SD card reader to the usb A input of the Docking adapter and use my Archos 404 as a 30 gig photobank. Today I did some testing for using the Archos 404 and the DVR adapter as a helmet cam video recorder. I taped the helmet cam to the step board on my truck and did some recording while driving around town. The video quality is pretty good and 8 minutes of video only used up 104MB of memory. All-in-all, I am impressed. It is just what I thought it would be.
