Customer Reviews

It's like there was a ghost pushing on the screen, then it would lock up.

Tablet was also very very slow most of the times, froze several times, even while during the initial setup, before I even got a chance to connect it to wifi.
Andrew R.
Good thing i sold it though i ended up just buying the nexus 10 which was a million times better.

Update 2/12/2014

Changing my rating to 1 star because Archos has ZERO customer support, they do not reply to customer's emails or tech help requests, and also they are not providing OTAs (firmware upgrades) to correct problems and update Android OS. My recommendation is to consider the "HANNSPREE 13.3-INCH QUAD CORE TABLET PC T7 SERIES WITH 1280X800 10 POINTS TOUCH 16GB MEMORY AND ANDROID JELLY BEAN" tablet (see my posted video review). I will still keep this video review on this product.

Original 2013 Review:

This is the 1st tablet I have purchased. I have seen many others but waited 2 years for a 13"+ screen. As an electrical engineer, I am very critical in my reviews to products pertaining to quality and specifications. So here are my findings:

- The screen is crystal clear and colors are outstanding. I love reading pdf, doc, epubs, movies, etc.. on this tablet because of the size
- Wifi works perfectly
- Product is as stated with one error, the OS is NOT Android 3.0 (Honeycomb); it is ANDROID 4.1 Jelly Bean
- Touch screen works perfectly. No delays and no problems
- Battery duration is good. I played the movie Titanic (3hrs 15 min) and only used 33% of the battery
- Connection to PC via USB is excellent
- Speakers are week but usable (see below "update 10/31/2013" note below to correct). When using ear plugs the sound is perfect and can be as loud as needed. NOTE: use only good quality ear plugs to get all the bass and mid range and treble
- MUST update all apps before using when you 1st get the product out of the box!
- YES its a big boy and takes getting use to the large size but its not that heavy
- SKYPE works great as well as mail, internet, chat, etc....... Cameras are excellent.

I've put all my sheet music on this tablet using mobile sheets and I LOVE IT! It's light, feels well made and is snappy! Before this, I had a toshiba thrive 10.1, and now it seems small in comparison! LOVE IT! Fits nicely on a music stand and has plenty of space for apps. If you are a musician, I can't recommend this enough! You'll never want to use regular sheet music again.

Testing out 13.3 tablets by Archos (this one) and Kocaso (M1400).

The strangest "problem" with this tablet is that it does not include Bluetooth capability (unlike the Kocaso). That is a very strange omission by Archos that doesn't seem to make any sense. This unit and the Kocaso look almost exactly alike (save for cosmetic details) and appear to have the same board (hardware specs are identical from what I have seen, USB and other ports are in exactly the same place on both units). I would imagine that the bluetooth connectivity isn't available in hardware, although it could be that Archos decided not to enable it in firmware.

One other very strange problem - every time the unit is rebooted, it changes its WiFi's MAC address. Someone else noticed this and posted in one of the user forums, and I have confirmed my unit exhibits the same behavior. Obviously a *really* bad bug which makes it impossible to put the unit in a WiFi router's MAC access filter, or to register it in any company/school/university system that requires MAC addresses to be registered.

The form factor is great for those that need a large screen. But for those of us looking for a large tablet to display music scores, the lack of bluetooth connectivity means one cannot use a page turning device like the Airturn. The Kocaso is cheaper and allows for that kind of connectivity, although it too has its own quirks (the MAC address doesn't change on the Kocaso, however).

So far, I have not been able to find a stylus that works with either of these units. Finger works OK, but it seems that styli do not trigger enough pixels to register the touch. A tablet of this size would be great for note taking, but until a stylus can be found that works well, handwriting on it isn't ideal.

Several tablet mfrs, most notably Toshiba, have been promising a 13" tablet since fall 2012. And unless you've been willing to shell out $1100 for a 13" convertible tablet like the Yoga, you've been out of luck.

This is the first 13" tablet I've seen that is actually legitimately for sale. I purchased it not because it was superior but because it was there, so while I've been overall happy, there are a few things I've been disappointed with.

At 320 bucks, I'm pretty darned pleased with the cost of this tablet. It's not a big beefy machine, so there are some lags here and there. But when compared to other Android tablets, the price point is right in the mix with the rest of them.

Most importantly, I love the size of this. It's why I bought it! I think that the aspect ratio is a bit wider than I thought it would be; it's definitely widescreen! I was expecting something more along the lines of the aspect ratio of an iPad, which is what I'm used to. The length of the tablet makes it slightly more awkward to handle. The screen has a bit of glare to it, and trying to find an angle that is both comfortable to hold and view with the glare can sometimes be a challenge.

There aren't any. Well there is one screen protector out there; it shipped to me from Germany. It is disgustingly overpriced and not great quality. The measurements are tantalizingly close to the Macbook Air, so I bought a cover for the Air hoping it would fit.. I can get it into the pouch but need a shoehorn to get it out. It does fit nicely into one of those lap desk things that has the pocket opening in the middle. It slides out though, but I bet a well-placed piece of rubber grip-mat would hold it in if you were concerned.
