Archos Leather Stand Case for 4 GB Archos 605 (Black)

I bought this case along with the 605 WiFi 160GB version. I was disappointed to find that the case was not built for the thickness of the 160GB version.
Otherwise, the case appears to be well-made and would've been quite handy if my Archos unit had fit.

It's high quality and fits the 30 GB like a glove, but there is one critical problem -- there is not opening by the data/power port, so you have to take the unit out of the case in order to charge it or connect to a computer. Unfortunately, for me that's a dealbreaker.

The case fits the archos snugly, but has a number of drawbacks.

1. There is no place for the stylus

2. although there is a headphone cutout that works well, there is no cutout for the speaker. Since it's advertised as a "stand case" I expected to be able to stand it & watch it. It doesn't stand well, and you can't hear the speaker through the leather.

3. A bottom cutout for the power/usb cord would have been a nice addition that was forgotten


Mostly without a holster for the stylus, I found this case mostly unusable. I ended up taking it out of the case every time I wanted to use it, and it was somewhat awkward to remove as well.

This case offers protection at best. It doesn't stand up well in the case like in the picture.

I'm not impressed at all with this purchase. I'm glad to have some kind of protection for my Archos, I love it dearly, but I'd like something better than this. I'm surprised the manufacturer made this. It's worthless.

1. It covers the speaker.
2. It covers the docking interface.
3. Headphones don't work well due to the thinkness (your mileage may vary here though)
4. It's not a good fit for the device. I'm using a 30GB Archos 605 (for reference)
5. IT DOESN'T STAND UP IN IT LIKE ADVERTISED. In fact, it tends to fall over, even when you snap it in place.

This seems to be a high quality product and I purchased it based on the popup recommendation of Amazon without reading the details of the compatability. Unforunatly when it arived I realized this was only for the Archos 605 in the 30 or 80GB size. It is too small for my 160GB system.

First off the hole for the audio jack was not big enough for a standard 1/8" jack. The jack barely fit into the hole, and any sudden movements
and the jack came halfway out (leaving a mono like sound to the external Amp).

As stated above, no flap (per say) for the data ports, I am always plugging in my Archos to put new media on it.

The quality of the case is great, and it protects the Archos very well, and I highly suggest picking one up to protect your Archos.

The leather stand case does not fit my Archos. Perhaps I ordered the wrong one but now that I have tossed the packaging, I'm sure I cannot return it.

There is a place for the stylus, look on the inside top where it folds over, there is a little pocket, it's easy to miss. I will cut my own holes for the speaker and cable ports, should not have to do this but I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I have to customize cases to fit whatever is supposed to go in them - I have had to cut holes in aluminum and leather cases for my pocket pc, palm and various mp3-mp4 players, so I was disappointed but not surprised that this is not as functional as it should be right out of the box.

The case is nice however, it is alittle difficult to place the Mp3 in the case and there is no room for the stylit. I see you get what you pay for...most of the time.

The case protects the Archos 605 nicely and it fits it like a glove. The belt clip is also a nice feature. The only problem (and I don't know if it is with all of them or just mine) is that the hold on the left side for the headphone jack is in the wrong spot by about a quarter of an inch. I just cut it a bit bigger and now it is perfect. It didn't cost me anything and it didn't harm it structurally. I think that it is a great accessory for anybody using the Archos 605, which, in my opinion, is a far superior machine to any IPod.
