There is nothing inherently wrong with this. It's well made and fits snugly with even a little extra space in the end. However I never use it.

I had an Archos 605 and paid $20 for a hard leather case. It had a belt clip, a hole for your earphones, flipped up to display the screen and could be used as a stand with the snap system. For a few dollars less this has none of that goodness. You have to take it out to use it, but I find the unit seems very secure in an inside jacket pocket. The case is just awkward and adds bulk. It's a security blanket that is rarely used in my case.

If you need something that was purely a protective cover for transport in a briefcase or luggage I'd say don't hesitate to get this. I guess my previous unit and case left me expecting more. It's a shame because this is a high quality product that could be very useful if it just had a little more attention to design.

The more detailed & useful case you ordered arrives. Does exactly what its supposed to do. Hold the 5 & nothing more.

This is really a must-have product for the Archos. I bought the 250 GB and it is an expensive media player and also metal encased. Having protection for the body of the Archos and the screen too is very important. This is a well-made rugged leather case with sturdy velcro closing.

This item deserves special mention. Nowhere on its packaging is "leather" mentioned. However, the web site repeatedly says so.
Its a nasty smelling plastic sleeve, originating in Asia, and cost under five dollars at wholesale.
I returned it, and the refund was very prompt, with easy to print return postage packing slip.
I suggest that Amazon be more thorough in vetting their products in future!

The case is OK however there is no place to store cables or other needed equipment

I purchased this case for my 160GB Archos 5 player and I was not impressed. The case was hard to use and the Velcro flap was difficult to pull open. It was also very noisy to open. I ended up using an older case that I purchased through Amazon for my older Archos 604. I sent this case back and bought a flip case for my Archos 604.

Holds the Archos 5 for nice protection but if you want to hold more than that in one case, this is not for you.

What a horrible device; had it for less than 3 days and it dies on me. It wouldn't be so bad if this were just a matter of a bad one off device but Archos has a horrible reputation even within their 'fan base' when it comes to atrocious support and product quality with incredibly high failure rates.

I've since sent this back to Amazon for a refund; I wanted to escape from the clutches of Apple but I've realised there is a reason for why Apple iPod Touch is popular; it does what it is supposed to do.
