First off, this is the second Arc'Teryx item I have purchased and I must give praise to the company for producing top tier clothing that stands-out both in function and form.
Pros: Function: Keeps you warm. Intended to be a mid-layer under your wind-proof shell. I would not recommend that you wear it in extreme wind and cold without a shell. The covert is made to be breathable and I can really feel the wind coming through the breathable sleeves in heavy cold wind. But it is one of the warmest sweaters/jackets on the market. With the front zipper, it is easy to put on and shed off quickly. Zipper pulls are nothing fancy but do a great job when reaching for them. The elastic bands at the sleeves and waist band is helpful to keep the body temperature in while keeping the jacket from riding up, it's nice to not have to use a scratchy velcro strap to tighten those areas. I especially like the left arm sleeve pocket to stash away small items like a key or credit card. This item is thicker so don't expect it to pack like a t-shirt. But it is relatively light weight for the bulk of it. Style: This is one of the main reasons I purchased this item. Let's face it...if it functions great but looks like a trash bag, one would not be spending the money on it. The fit is very nice. Sleeves are a perfect length, the fit at the shoulders, waist area are a good balance between having some freedom for motion and tight enough to look sharp. The covert illusion to this sweater is that it looks like an expensive, high-quality wool sweater but is not wool at all. instead a very soft high quality fleece that looks like warm wool. Therefore you do not have to worry about the way you clean/wash it and the pilling factor you get from wool. Feel: This jacket/sweater feels amazing.. Again looks like wool..but is much softer. I normally wear wool sweaters with a long sleeve shirt underneath... because it itches my arms...I can get by with a short sleeve with this item because it feels nice on the bare skin. Cons: Wish it had some interior pockets but I can let it go, because of the nice sleeve pocket for small items. And the price is not cheap... but you get what you pay for. Conclusion: Excellent item that is worth what I paid. It was on sale from $179.... The discount was incentive enough to try it on, and fall for such a comfy jacket. You will not be disappointed with this item. ------------- IMPORTANT NOTE! I made a mistake in reviewing this product... my review is intended for the full zip version of the Arc'Teryx Covert Cardigan jacket. I believe these two sweaters are very similar... just my version has a full frontal zipper. More jacket-like.

The Covert is a very dressy piece and if you work in a casual environment then you can get away with this as a sweater. The Covert is very warm and definitely for the winter months. The fuzzy part of the fleece is on the inside and the outside looks like a stitched sweater. It is a very warm fleece and is definitely a winter top. I think it would be a little warm for the fall unless it's just used as a pullover.
From a technical perspective the fleece is warm, though it is a total mid layer. The Covert will not be stopping any wind, actually it breathes very well and when wearing it without a shell the wind will wip right through it.
