5.0 out of 5 stars An adventure novel with meaning, March 5, 2008

This review is from: Arctic Rendezvous: A Man's Quest for Meaning (Paperback)
I picked this book up in New York and started reading it on a flight to the west coast. While I wasn't sure what to expect, I was surprised how engrossed I quickly became.
This book is autobiographical and Mr. McGill certainly has been on some wild adventures that he describes in an easy and humorous style. The first two sections are fast paced and full of enthusiasm about his early life hauling his new wife (who shortly becomes pregnant) to the Alaskan wilderness and then his trips back and forth between the nature that he loves and his growing family.
The reflective quality of the last third of the book makes it slower paced, but the tone change is appropriate since the book is about "A Man's Quest for Meaning." McGill ties in his past life lessons with his present ideas and how he hopes to live in the future.
