3.0 out of 5 stars Keep This One In the Arcade
This is quite a thrilling action game, with all the feel of fast paced, environment-rich arcade hits like Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049. But the real question here is, how exciting is an arcade game with unlimited tries on your less-than impressive 19-inch TV? This game has high-quality graphics, and an extremely realistic movement system... I can only think of Gran Turismo...

I have to say that for PS2 this is a great game. Of course, nothing compares to the original arcade game where you sit on the snow mobile, move back & forth, feel the cool breeze, etc., but putting that aside, this is a pretty awesome game! Same courses & riders, etc., and you feel all the vibrations and such in the PS2 controller.

I would, however, shop around on the price but at it's current price it's not too bad. If you like fun, excitement and challenge this is a good game for all ages!

This game is a blast! For those of you who aren't very coordinated when it comes to video games...you'll love this game. New challenges come up all the time. There are so many hidden roads, and each new character unlocked makes more fun all the time. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game for all ages!, October 29, 2001

My wife and I recently bought this game so we could play a game that had a two player mode. So far so good. There are a couple different options, it's not just racing (there's a battle mode and more). The game is a lot of fun and I would highly recomend it for anyone who likes racing with a little violence mixed in. I think there are better racing, or action games out there, but like I said this is a fun one to play as one player or two.

3.0 out of 5 stars Keep This One In the Arcade, September 8, 2001

This is quite a thrilling action game, with all the feel of fast paced, environment-rich arcade hits like Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049. But the real question here is, how exciting is an arcade game with unlimited tries on your less-than impressive 19-inch TV? This game has high-quality graphics, and an extremely realistic movement system... I can only think of Gran Turismo 3 as a comparison. The sequence of unlocking new tracks is challenging, and would be more simple on a platform than in an arcade.

But two of the most exciting things, steering with wheel and throttle, and sitting in the chair that has the sounds and vibrations coming straight to your senses, are lost when translated to the PS2 format. This IS a very fun game, but it may get tiring quickly when you can play it at any time you feel like it. There is a more tense and exciting feeling from playing an arcade game...you don't want to loose or be too risky, on the chance of losing your precious 3 quarters. Try this in the arcade first...and even if you like it, remember that you're going to be MUCH further from the experience when you play it on your TV.

The graphics are a nice improvement over the original PSX game, but the gameplay isn't real deep. I rented it for 2 days and finished it, and nothing made me want to go back and keep playing it.

I was very impressed with how good the condition of the game is. It looks like it is brand new! I like this game because it brings back memories of when I used to play it as a little kid. Thanks a lot for another great product Amazon!

Being a fan of the arcade version, I was excited to see this as a PS2 Title. It is very similar to the arcade version, and just about as much fun. There are many tracks, sleds, and riders to choose from and unlock, which makes game play more interesting. It is a bit fast, but that's a good thing! If you like a frantic paced racing game with a healthy dose of fighting I think you will like this one!!
The only drawback is that on two player games the visibility is limited and it makes navigation harder. That said this is a great game!
