Arctix Classic Series Ski Snowboard Cargo Pants - Large. I have been using bib type ski pants for years so this is a change for me. I bought them for one reason and that was the zippered front. Using their size guide I would go one size larger than the what they show.

Pros:
- Four pockets (two on top front are zippered - smaller pockets) (cargo pockets are large, zippered with Velcro flap)
- Cargo pockets have a one inch nylon loop on the flap that could be used for a lift ticket (might want to add a key ring to this loop)
- Inner elastic closer around boot base to keep snow out
- Keeps wind out and have had them out in 8 degree F weather so far and have been warm
- Zippered at bottom of pant legs for expansion (legs are large to start with so pant legs should accommodate very large boots
- Center fly has a snap closure as well as Velcro around it to keep things secure and zipper stays up with set up
- Velcro adjustments on waist band are nice to cinch you up plus there are belt loops and elastic as well
- great price

Cons:
- They seem to be a hip hugger style in that the fly is a little short (and crotch to waist) - makes entry a tad difficult (I am a 33" waist w/ 28" inseam)
- The inner elastic legging (pant blouse) and the zippered expansion legs make it difficult to put these on over boots or take them off over boots
- While the waist size seems to be smaller than the size chart the inseam measures a bit smaller, 29 inches for the large ( I still roll the pant legs up when out of my boots and in normal shoes while walking around the chalet.)
- Won't know about durability until I fall a few times (I'm a ski instructor so falling happens on purpose for every class but it isn't the same as missing the pipe in the board park etc.)

Bottom Line: For the price, $30 + $5 shipping, they are a great buy.

I had a few things I was looking for when I purchased these pants.

#1 Wind/Water proof or resistant

The upside is that these pants seem to be completely windproof in my experience. Standing in 30mile wind and feeling no wind seeping through. However, they are not very water resistant. I tested in light rain condition and after 10 mins or so moisture started to soak in.

#2 Quality of built

I have noticed some loose stitches when I first wore these. After a day's use some strings got a bit loose. I don't think these pants would last a long time, at least the ones that I got.

#3 Warmth

Very warm. If there's one thing these pants do best, it's its ability to keep your nice and warm in cold weather.

In conclusion:

Starting at 5 stars, -1 at water resistance and -1 at built. Overall 3 stars.

I was trying to figure out what gear to get for a Mount Washington winter summit attempt. I was buying all the equipment for our group of 3 (from mountaineering shoes to cramp-ons and pick axe), so I tried my best to balance quality and price. This item matched exactly what I was looking for. Comparable snow pants at REI and EMS go for over double the price.

The first attempt ended up in failure. Complete white out and 100 MPH winds. Temperatures were hitting 15 below with the ridiculous wind chill. The second time we finally summitted with tons of snow and 50-60 MPH winds. In addition to be being extremely comfortable, the pants kept us all dry, warm, and toasty the entire time.

For those who are curious, my bottom layers were a synthetic EMS hiking pants, UA Cold Gear Base 4.0, and DuoFold bottoms. If you have strong layers, I would highly recommend this item for short mountaineering trips in extreme weather.

let's get this out of the way first- i'm not a strange shaped guy by anyone's definition. i'm no brad pitt circa 1993 but i'm difinitely no chris farley. i'm a pretty standard 34 in most jeans. 6 ft tall, 190 lbs. I ordered the size LARGE supposedly rated for sizes 36-38, since the reviews stated these ran snug. These are a LOT snug. I could not even button them up. Keep that in mind when ordering Arctix! Returned them and bought some Volcom ones for $5 more.

Awesome Seller though- they ran out of the color i ordered (end of season sale) and called me to see if I would switch, and still got the pants shipped before end of business on the day I ordered them. Received in 2 days. excellent service.

Used these pants outside for several spans of 2 hours in around 22ºf and these pants were AMAZING. Use these as your third layer (boxers, jeans, these) and you won't be disappointed - the only point I got slightly cold was sitting on ice for about 10 minutes, but a few minutes later off the ice and warm as could be again.

Also had forgotten my sleepwear for this outing, these were very comfortable as a second layer for sleeping as well. The pockets on them were thought out and convenient as well.

Also saw several men and women with these same brand of pants on, so they're apparently popular.

The size (which I purchased large) was the only annoyance, I'm 5'10" 210lbs and wear a 36-30, these were a little long and the zippers to tighten up the bottoms didn't get tight enough over regular boots to prevent the backs from dragging - get some safety pins. The waist fit pretty well over jeans, not sure if a smaller size would've been too tight. (I can't possibly be the only 210 lbs, 5'10" guy in the world, need a slightly-overweight version, haha.) Don't be afraid to order slightly large on the waist, as these DO have belt loops.

Despite the fitment issue, I'd still HIGHLY recommend these!
