Book Description

September 24, 2009
New Age Science Fiction Classic! Theos, a depressed atheist searches out a Monk and requests that he delude him into an imaginary happiness; however the Monk informs him that his power lies in his ability to release a person's Inner Intelligent Spirit- the Soul. Theos then wishes to experience such a spiritual passage and manipulates the Monk's power to exert his Soul into the vast unknown. He meets & falls in love with a supernal angel but he is not yet worthy of union with her, so they travel back in time 7,000 years to a sweepingly fantastic world, undergoing transformative adventures. The recurring theme throughout Corelli's books was her attempt to reconcile Christianity with reincarnation, astral projection & other mystical topics. Her books were a very important part of the foundation of today's New Age religion, some of whose adherents say that Corelli was "inspired". The strong occult elements are moving & profound. Many have seen much more in this book than just a story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very cool new age novel!, October 10, 2009
This review is from: Ardath: The Story of a Dead Self (Paperback)
I was told this was a mystical christian book, and it was.

Its epic in scope, with time travel, and a haunting premise, and a very intelligent read.

All about the soul and transformation. Very New Age!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its beautiful!, October 9, 2009
This review is from: Ardath: The Story of a Dead Self (Paperback)
Marie Corelli (1855-1924) was the most popular novelist of the turn of the century, outselling Hall Caine, Mrs. Humphry Ward, H. G. Wells, and Arthur Conan Doyle by the thousands. For thirty years she was ridiculed by reviewers and the literary elite--Edmund Gosse dismissed her as "that little milliner"--but these opinions had no impact on her mass appeal. In 1895, with The Sorrows of Satan, she broke all previous publishing records, and by 1906 a Corelli novel sold 100,000 copies a year.

Have read the above about her, I decided to read her book, and see if she was still strong. I was not disapointed in the writing, but more so in the story, an epic of stories. So spiritual, it was profound.

It's like a walk thru a soul, its beautiful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly fascinating!, October 8, 2009
This review is from: Ardath: The Story of a Dead Self (Paperback)
The major theme in Ardath is to interpret Christianity with reincarnation, astral projection and other mystical topics. Many have said that Ardath and other books by Marie Corelli really established the New Age movement, & in her time, she was the most widely read author of fiction but came under harsh criticism for her mystical corruption of Christianity. Nevertheless, her works were collected by members of the British Royal Family, and by Winston and Randolph Churchill, amongst others.

Very good, well written and truly fascinating!
