In 2006, liberals and Democrats made a plea to the American public to stop the Iraq war if elected into the Congress despite the fact they had very little power to do so. Ultimately, they were unable to do so until Barack Obama assumed office in 2009. Liberals and Democrats also made a plea to the American public to pass meaningful healthcare reform but even with a 60-member filibuster-proof majority, they were unable to place any form of a healthcare bill on Obama's desk. In fact, the election of one person derailed their whole agenda.

Liberals and Democrats often find themselves accused by the right wing as being in control of the media. However, liberalism is not catching on and is viewed a negative word. You always hear, "too liberal" but never "too conservative." You will also notice that no President with the possible exception of Lyndon B. Johnson or John F. Kennedy have been elected on liberal principals. As of recent elections, the only way Democrats win the Presidency is when the Republican screws up. Liberal station Air America fell flat from day one but conservative talk radio and television abounds and thrives. If liberals are so powerful, why do they fail to achieve any major objectives?

It all begs the question: Are liberals and Democrats spineless, weak and useless?

I've heard not conservative enough and too conservative from modrates on the left and the right. It really matter about where you go. the rather centrist Blog Littlegreenfootballs has said that many on the right are now Far right now that a democrat is in congress.

politics work like that when one screws up the other takes up the reighns like say the election of 1952 Eisenhower won primarily because people didn't think Korea was going so well the same goes for the election of 1968 people were tired of the Vietnam war and they wanted out. If Jimmy charters presidency had been good I don't think that reagan would have been elected. and if things had gotten crappy during his presidency he would have been replaced. When a polition screws up people often go to the opposite party that's the way politics goes.

As for the radio thing one could say that maybe its because Conservatves are more of a collective in terms of their political beliefs than liberals. Conservatives ten to believe the same things and many stations preach to this. Liberalism is a bit different and not nearly as focused so it doesn't get people roused up over something. to put is simply conservative stations are pumping up their audiences and liberal stations are calming their audiences and a pumped up audience always pays more and tend to be more active.

I'd have to say that if liberals have no spines than conservative have way too much they aren't willing to bend on just about anything and life isn't like that.

If liberals are so useless than how come conservative want them dead/gone? wouldn't that constitute an irrational fear?

Conservatives want liberals dead and gone whether they are strong or weak. Conservatives unlike liberals play to win even when they are going to lose. They fashion their arguments and stick to their guns even when they are not supposed to. Between the 1980s and the 2000s, the conservatives did everything they could to load the Supreme Court up with conservatives to reverse decades worth of liberal court decisions on abortion, affirmative action, gun rights and religion. The conservatives will never be rid of their need to destroy liberalism from the pillars of the White House to the corners of abortion clinics. Despite such a hatred for liberal politics, their passion is what has made them successful even if they're distorting truths or exaggerating claims.

Their passion has allowed them to control the narrative of the healthcare debate. When George W. Bush was President, he pushed all of his accomplishments in our faces, which is what conservatives do. The Obama administration has caught quite a few terrorists but doesn't do anything to highlight or underscore that. Instead, he allows the conservatives to criticize the manner in which he fights terrorism even if it is successful on any level. They also criticize him even when his methods are similar if not identical to Bush. The conservatives criticize spending when they ate through a surplus and into a deficit yet did nothing to curb Congressional or White House spending. Why? Because it's about winning.

Conservatives have one goal and one only: winning. This is why they are so persistant, bloodthirsty and irrational at times. It is also why they succeed. Liberals on the other hand are weak and try to appeal to a person's intelligence, which often doesn't work. Conservatives appeal to people's fears, which draws more reaction and results. So the question isn't who is right or wrong. The question is who is more effective? Based on the track record of the conservatives, they are.

Teriek Williams, you couldn't be any more wrong when you said that Liberals appeal to a persons intelligence. They have never done that, and they have never supported any compound logic, logic and liberals just doesn't mix.

Liberals are only great and effective at appealing to one thing and one thing only: peoples emotions. Liberals are masters at using junk science along with clever dialog to achieve the desired emotional responses from anyone that still cares to listen.

Thank you for correcting me. Emotions was the word I was looking for. I incorrectly equated emotional compacity with intellect. However, conservatives don't run an intelligence-based operation either. They spend much more time inciting mass hysteria and to do that, they sometimes make exaggerated claims. Just look at the behavior of conservatives in the past few years (or few months). But as long as you say it a couple time, people think it's true and as long as you think God's on your side (and your's only), you're justified in anything you do.

Liberals are useless, cowardly, flip-floppish. Conservatives are paranoid, darwinian-while-preaching-religion, and destructive. Both are ruthless, ambitious, and mostly full of crap.

^^I mean the politicians here, but sometimes it bleeds into their voters as well ;).
