He's serious - He's laughing!,
By Alli LeVere (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Are You Lonesome Tonight (Audio CD)
CD single has the studio version as originally recorded and now beautifully re-mastered. The bonus live "laughing version" lets us in on Elvis' collaboration with his background singers, as he messes up the lyrics and gets the giggles while encouraging the singers and band to carry on - he refuses to stop, trying hilariously to the end, ad-libbing malaprops and some personal comments about his career. This track is a rare improvised performance and shows how Elvis' personality shined on stage.

This is a numbered, limited edition CD single of "Are You Lonesome Tonight" and the original flip side, "I Gotta Know." As is the case with the other CD singles from the same series, this is pretty cool if you're a huge fan of the king. If not, you'd be well advised to spend a little more to get a CD with both of those songs plus many more.If like me, you have been looking for the "laughing" version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight" (the version that is very difficult to find on CD), this is probably the cheapest legal way to get it at the moment.

If you are an Elvis fan and don't have the laughing version of Are You Lonesome Tonight, I would buy this album just as I did. It is a smaller sized album with only 3 songs on the album. It has the Are you lonesome tonight version he sings and it also has the laughing version of the same song. If you are looking for this song I would suggest to you to buy this album that is if you can't get it on cd or already have it on a record album. It is a good album to have. Sandy McClaflin

Smooth Classic,

Elvis Presley truly was smooth on this Slow Jam. His voice really hit the effects of the Lyrics&the song had a country but a Pop Undercurrent going on.Elvis was a true Stylist&He understood Lyrical Tone really well.
