Book Description

July 2004
A child’s eyes haunt Wendell Mettey, founder of Matthew 25: Ministries. Mettey spoke with the child’s father as he waited hours for treatment for his critically-burned infant. "Take our picture so all can see the conditions in our country," the Nicaraguan father said.

Mettey has never forgotten the child, father, or the needs he saw. Mettey has dedicated the years since to improving life in Nicaragua and other war-torn or impoverished areas around the world.

Are Not My People Worthy? tells how a minister from Cincinnati found himself called to alleviate pain and suffering in the U.S. and in nations thousands of miles away. It details how Mettey’s organization, Matthew 25: Ministries, answers the New Testament call of Matthew 25:34-40 by bringing food and water to the hungry and thirsty, clothing and housing to the naked and strangers, and care to those sick and in prison.

Are Not My People Worthy? also reveals how the voice of God encouraged Mettey to think bigger, dream extravagantly, and accomplish unheard-of humanitarian feats with the help of many volunteers, generous corporations, brave government officials, the U.S. Air Force, and other caring people and organizations.

5.0 out of 5 stars The focus is always the "Least of These", October 4, 2004

This review is from: Are Not My People Worthy? The Story of Matthew 25: Ministries (Hardcover)
I have been privileged to be a part of Matthew 25: Ministries from the beginning, and can personally attest to the dedication and tenacity of Wendell Mettey, his family and staff, and the small army of volunteers that comprise this fine organization.

Pastor Mettey is a minister by training, a teacher by nature, and a leader of extraordinary vision. From the very beginning, his focus has been to help the poorest of the poor, those Jesus Christ referred to as "The Least of These."

I encourage you to purchase a copy of this little book, read it, and then pass it on to a friend. The stories are inspirational and are the best example I have ever seen of how God works through his faithful people without regard for political, social or religious circumstance.
