3.0 out of 5 stars Are you Kidding?
Where are these kid's learning this stuff? Astronomy in the 3rd grade? I played 9 times and I am not smarter than a 5th grader, actually my character says I'm an idiot. If your feeling pretty darn smart, play this game. It'll keep you in check. I'm waiting for my niece to enter the 2nd grade, then I'll play with her.

Based upon the hit tv game show of the same game, ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER? is a trivia based video game. In the game you get to be a contestant on the game show. Before you begin you create a user name as well as an avatar for yourself. Then you can get down to business and play. There are actually three different types of games that can be played. The first is Homeroom, a game that's set up just like the original prime time 60-minute version of the show, with 10 different categories, 3 cheats, and (unless you're saved by the save cheat) when you get a wrong answer you lose everything. Of course, if you keep playing you have the opportunity to win $1,000,000 (in nonexistent computer money). The other two games are multiplayer games. One is Flashcards and the other is Spelling Bee. Both pit you and whomever you're playing against in a series of timed matches. The Homeroom game can also be played as a multiplayer where you and your opponent play back and forth between questions, playing different games, but using the same controller. Between the three games, there are around 6,000 different questions that can be asked. There are also a series of "trophies" that can be unlocked if you earn enough money or commit the right tasks.

I like ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER and I enjoyed playing this video game version of the show. The graphics aren't the greatest and Jeff Foxworthy does repeat the same expressions over and over. Also, if you play the game constantly over a short period, it can become repetitive. However, I love playing trivia based games and I've played this game several times by myself and with family members and we all still enjoy it. It's not the best trivia video game I've ever played, but it's a good, family friendly knowledge game that can provide several hours of entertainment. If you want more, try the board game version of the show or the ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER DVD game.

4.0 out of 5 stars I won a million the first time I played it, November 10, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader: Make the Grade (Video Game)
I got this game when it came out for the PS2 in 2009. The first time I played it, I got all 10 grade questions and went for the million. I've since forgotten the exact question, but the answer was "horsepower" and Jeff Foxworthy told me I won the million (if it were only real). Graphics are geeky but okay, it plays the same as the prime-time version seen on the FOX network (the daily syndie version has a slightly different format and the top prize is $250K).

A fun game you can play alone or with an opponent. You get the "cheats" and there are five 5th graders you can choose to help you out. Though I proved I'm smarter than a 5th grader, there are questions that will make you think. This game proves you don't remember everything you learned in school, but it's a fun way to refresh your memory.

Very fun game. This is not too hard that you won't know any answers and not too easy that you will know them all. Great way to keep entire family of all ages engaged, including husband. Jeff Foxworthy is the perfect host for this TV show and game spin off - completely enjoyable to listen to for a number of games without getting annoying.

You can play several games without getting the same questions, so it stays fresh and interesting. Also good for refreshing your child's brain during school breaks and summer! Learning can be fun.

My child won't play this on his own, but it's highly recommended for entire family fun.

Bought this game for my 8-year-old nephew. His parents love to play as much as he does. This version is for the PS2, they also make it for the computer. Anyone that enjoys trivia will like playing this game.

We bought this for a friend's birthday. It was fun to collaborate on the answers to win the million. The anamation is a little geeky but it's still fun.
