Book Description

April 30, 2009
On May 23, 2007, author Philip R. Hanaburgh suffered a stroke that left him unable to use his left side. In his moving and inspirational memoir, Are You Ready?, he offers advice, practical wisdom, and tips for anyone going through any sort of devastating medical episode, particularly a stroke. Realizing that the market is filled with medical books about strokes, Hanaburgh seeks to reach readers on a more spiritual level, intimating that terrible experiences that force us to confront our mortality and death can actually lead us into richer, fuller lives. Warmly written, Are You Ready? is a testament to the indomitable spirit of one courageous man.

Inspirational!!! May 28, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I must admit, I originally bought this book because I know the author and wanted to be supportive. But wow! Was I ever surprised! While reading it I realized this book is good - actually better than good. It offers valuable information, humor, and inspiration. What can be better than that?? Sure we all know the standard symptoms of a stroke (someone who can't smile or hold their arms above their head) but I NEVER heard the others mentioned in this book. Making your way back from something so devastating has to be frustrating and difficult, but Phil does it with courage (after all he was an Army Ranger), humor, and the love and support of his family and faith. He not only inspires us, and anyone facing a challenge, but he manages to make us laugh in spite of the seriousness of the subject. Bravo Phil. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Faith, Family And Friends September 7, 2009
Format:Paperback
I really found this book to be not only informative, but also a true testament to Phil's faith and how powerful it truly is. I believe he wouldn't be here today without his faith in God, the love of his family and his many friends. Sometimes doctors don't have a lot to do with it. It is a story of not only love and faith, but never giving up. This is so well written; I could feel it. I loved the book.
The best to you and your family Phil.

Inspiring! June 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
I wasn't sure what to expect when I read this book. A friend of the author suggested I read it and I was somewhat apprehensive, but I picked it up, started reading and couldn't put it down until I was finished. This book is poignant, humorous, inspirational, educational and I would guess, very therapeutic for the author.

Under the category of "life isn't fair" he came through this ordeal fighting and making a whole lot of lemonade out of a whole lot of lemons. His courage and faith are infectious and his insights to health care and insurance are a valuable lesson to all.

God bless his wife, children and all his extended family and close friends for bestowing their healing power of love and faith on him.
