High energy melodic rock!, November 28, 2008
This review is from: Are You Ready to Rock (Audio CD)
Eclipse is another great band from Sweden who make awesome melodic rock. This is a superb album filled with very high energy songs that make you want to drive very fast! The songs are strong from beginning to end but the opening 3 songs in particular are so intense. The vocals are melodic and layered and the guitars are huge. The production is really good too. You have to ask yourself is there no end to the Swedish domination of melodic rock! Highly recommended to fans of the genre and definitely a strong contender for the top 10 melodic rock albums in 2008.

Are you ready to rock in 1987 `Whitesnake'-Style???, February 12, 2010
This review is from: Are You Ready to Rock (Audio CD)
"Eclipse" is a Swedish hard rock band formed in 2001 and "Are you ready to rock" is their third album originally released in 2008. This release signifies the departure of "Eclipse" from the melodic rock/AOR sound to a harder rocking still equally melodic approach, hence the forceful title. You might think "Are you ready to rock" is too bold a statement for a band that has just reached its 3rd release; but NO, they really are THAT GOOD, I have to admit.
"Eclipse" has the mid-late 80s "Whitesnake" sound all over it; more accurately is built from the very same characteristics. Take the opening track "Breaking my heart again" which is very much a mixture of WS "Bad boys" and "Don't break my heart again". In addition "Under the Gun" is a frenetic guitar/drum attack which references some of the faster material on "WS- Slip of the tongue". Never forgetting "Young guns" which has to be one of the most intense and uncompromising hard rock tunes of 2008; just referencing a few songs on this devastating release.
Regardless of influences, on this 3rd "Eclipse" album you find frenetic hard rock riffage followed by lengthy guitar melodies, supported by up front rhythm section (big drum toms, and double bass drum attack).
The band consists of Magnus Henriksson (g), Robban Back (d), Johan Berlin (k) and Eric Martensson (v) who I have to say sounds nothing like David Coverdale instead focusing on his own youthful-melodic singings style.
If you are a fan of 80s "Whitesnake" this is tailor made for you; If you are looking for a melodic hard rock album that runs on intensity and heritage, "Are your ready to rock" is the ideal propostion.

You might be confused by the name, which is the same.
That other Eclipse is tame, some a cappella s%^*
fans of THIS band find HELLA lame.
Each to his own, but this Eclipse splits speakers in eighties power rock styles. Y'all lookin for somethin meeker, you best pass on these files.
