Dupree is the daughter of a woman who ran off after she was born. Dupree ended up being raised by her Aunt Madge. At about the age of 10, Aunt Madge had a stroke and with no money received no rehabilitation. Madge couldn't walk or talk and Dupree had to do everything for her: bathe her, feed her and comb her hair. Dupree did all of this in a house with no electricity or running water and while getting very good grades in school.

One day while walking home, Dupree was attacked by a man. Dupree prayed and the guy ended up being unable to move and ran off. In the meantime, Dupree started being more careful and ended up graduating from high school. At first, Dupree didn't have the money to buy her cap and gown but the church gave her the money after the deadline. Ms. Scott, a non-Christian, at first refused to let her purchase the cap and gown but eventually bought the cap and gown herself.

After the graduation, a Deacon tried to rape Dupree. He ended up beating her up and breaking her back. While in the hospital, a police officer admitted that he was Dupree's father, but did not tell her. Dupree ended up moving in with Ms. Scott and she received money to go to college.

Ultimately Dupree ends up meeting her mother and father at 18, meeting a player at 18, getting her college paid at 18, being attacked multiple times at 18 and conveniently having all her problems start and end at 18. Where were all of these people before 18, including God? I was drawn to this book because Duprees childhood was similar to my own. Life is not a fantasy and this author insulted me by making things miraculously work out because Dupree turned 18. In addition the book ended like it had a part 2. Authors should finish the book or write on the back cover that the book is part of a series of books.

The plots, the setting kept me riveted to where I finished the whole book in a day. Have not done that in years. Faith and perseverance is what it takes. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. I am ready for part 2. :)

It took me a while to start reading this book but when I started I couldn't put it down. It show that even though we go through rough or good time GOD never forget us and that the devil is the one that is weak. Nothing and I mean nothing can't come between you and GOD. Thanks for the reading is was greaaaat. Keep up the good work. Can wait for the next.
