5.0 out of 5 stars AX comes out kickin'
Since the spawn of The Accident Experiment in October of '02, they have been hit'n hard. Anyone who has seen them live, now has the ability of hearing the tight, melodical, rockin' tunes in the comfort of their own home... or better yet, cranked up in your car.

'Arena' answers the worlds request for a new sound, one that doesn't forget about emotion, feeling, and is incredibly defined. Check it out, you won't be sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars they have heart, April 10, 2004
By
This review is from: Arena (Audio CD)
Here goes a track by track:

1. Scream to breathe- not my favorite, but the heaviest, grungiest song this album has to offer. Angry vibe.
2. Seeds of Black- I love this song for the reason I love Mechanical animals, by manson. An effective feeling of impotence, drug imagry (if I take your pills...)
3. Million Dollar Hell- personally I find this to be the weakest track on the album, probably cuz I don't wanna hear about pod anymore than I have to.
4. Song for you- the soul this song has, who ever hasn't been here, has never be touched by death.
5. Nevermore- this song is filled with steam ridden textures, pulsing bass and such imagery!
6. Arena- nice instrumental

Overall, the abilities of the band shine brilliantly. Guitar that ranges from background texture to scorching leads. Bass that throbs in the background or drives the song forward. The drums are so stylized and deliberate. Finally the vocals cover everything a rock band could ask for. All this not to mention the ideas presented rather creatively.

Also, if this is AX trying to sound like Pink Floyd, than Payable on Death is pod trying to sound like Bob Marley. Let them be themselves and play what they feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marcos does it again!, April 5, 2004

AX is a great band with their own unique sound, yet you can still distinguish Marcos' contribution to the group. If you are looking for a P.O.D. clone, AX probably isn't your best choice, but if you're looking for great music in general, AX is definately worth a listen.

The Accident Experiment has quickly become my new favorite band. They are unlike any other band who is out in the mainstream these days. They have created a sound that is their own and it's amazing! I highly reccomend any person who loves rock music to buy this c.d.! You won't be sorry you did.

Marcos has a way of creating these rich textures with his guitar sounds. This disc just seems to be so well put together. I love this disc, it's too short but worth it. "Arena" is freakin' awesome!

First off to all those hater's that have nothing better to do but criticism Christian influenced bands go back to your secular junk and leave the rating up to Christian fans.

At first Accident Experiment comes off aggressive yet not as promising as Project 86 first EP. This was a shock due to the list of influences and styles members of Accident Experiment bring to the band.

The EP has some major high points though it did quit meet my expectation coming from Marco and Pete. Personally the opening Scream to Breathe is the best song hands down.

This EP is good but nothing more then something you can tell your friends about when your listen to your old POD and Grammatrain cd's.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh Offering, July 14, 2005
By
mr.e (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Arena (Audio CD)
This six song EP is awesome. If you had to generalise and box it to a genre I'd say ROCK. And the type of rock would be ALTERNATIVE cause it's not your average 4-piece sound. And it's got an experiemental vibe to the production too which also sets it apart from your average 4-piece album.

I need to start off by mentioning how insane the drumming is. Unpredicatable, skilled, creative stuff, like the intro of 'Song For You' for example. And 'Arena', the epic instrumental, is amazing how it ends up in a web of fills. I definately recommend a listen if you are a drummer, even if you are not into this genre.

Marcos keeps his signature delay sound which he is the master of. The intro of 'Seeds of Black' will take P.O.D fans back to the 'Fundamental Elements' days. Some other tracks have a 'Satellite'[album] /lead break of 'Alive' feel. But having said that, all the tracks are fresh and definately hold their own ground.

The vocals are tight. Pete is a musician, not just a singer - if you get what I'm trying to say. The lyrics are fresh and have presented me with something that I want to read and figure out.

Part way through 'Arena' the bass finally gets the spotlight it deserves. With so much skilled musicianship present all through the EP, it was hard to take it all in at once and the bass might take the back seat and become invisable for the first couple of listens, depending on your preferences of course. But Tony definately offers something worth listening too.

(You won't see this in the Amazon picture but) The spine of the back inlay has symbols of the main 9 religons in the world, which is a definate statement of their personal spiritual journeys at present. But then again, sometimes bands have no input whatsoever into their album art/design as they get someone else to do the job.

The lyrics are printed in the booklet, which is good because they deserve a read. It's great how Accidental Experiment leave behind the egocentric norm of lyric writing that are almost expected from bands and replace them with an intellectual offering to the reader.

Definatley get a hold of this EP if you are a musician, a fan Marcos' signature sound or someone is searching for something fresh for their CD collecton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Curiel is Better Than Ever, May 8, 2005

Accident Experiment surpasses-by far-anything that Curiel has ever done to date.Curiel is without a doubt one of the most gifted artists of today. However, The Accident Experiment would not be as innovative and earworthy as it is without the talent of Stewart,DeLoct, and Longoria.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give them another chance, they've improved, October 25, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Arena (Audio CD)
Yes, this EP isn't too great. But when you get bands made up of great musicians from other great bands, you can't always expect the immediate product to be flawless. I remember seeing the Mars Volta live in their beginning days and they where very rough around the edges and not that good. Now they have improved tremendously, and so has the Accident Experiment.

Since this EP, the band's music has become increasingly more well rounded, raw and experimental. They've learned to abandone the nu metal leanings from past bands and forged a different sound. They bring a very classic rock vibe.

These guys have gotten a lot better, give them a chance.

Marcos, you rule. P.O.D. can screw themselves.
