When bands hit a certain number of albums, they seem to always put out some sort of tribute to their past. These albums are oftentimes littered with the way other artists hear the songs, the way the band would have stroked a keyboard differently, and that sort of thing. In those cases, I always advise people to stay away. In Informatik's case, however, I find the revision of their work worthwhile and beautiful when listened to.

Since Informatik started cultivating their new sound, they have given up Voxing. No more grows and no more electronic cover-up: here we have a band saying what they want to say. And, when unmasked, many of these songs are breathtaking. When I listened to entropy, for example, I was stunned at how different the vocal arrangement made the song sound. It wasn't a ploy of resaling but, instead, it seemed like the band actually taking time to say the things they have wanted to say to an audience that may have been tone-deaf to what was said in the past. The same thing can be said of the other old songs that have been redone: they are remixesa nd they are touched up like other bands have done BUT the change in the vocals makes this a buyer's friend. Angelwings and other things, I found my soul tonight.

There is also a little new material here for someone to take in - Predator, Falling, Come Together, and It was like I was Dreaming, adding this to a new material EP just by this fact alone. Then add in the fact that the old material sounds like a rebirth and you have something that should not be overlooked.
For fans of the band that can endure change, it is an easy decision.
For people who did not like the band back in the Syntax days, this might be something you will find refreshing.

I have had it spinning since it came out and, in a jungle of sound, that says a lot. Listen to samples, give it a chance to sink in, and enjoy.
