About the Author

Frances A. Miller began writing the Matt McKendrick books when her life was awash in teenagers, including her own children, neighbors and students. By the time the fourth book was published, she had accumulated thousands more through letters and school visits. Other publications include short novels and biographies for reluctant readers. A grandmother now, she is writing joyfully for a younger audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unforgettable protagonist, struggling against impossible odds, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Aren't You the One Who...? (Paperback)
After finally convincing Lt. Les Ryder that he did not murder his younger sister Katie, 16-year-old Matt McKendrick is ready to try living a normal life with the Ryder family. But unlike the Ryders, most of Los Angeles believes Matt is guilty of savagely murdering a deaf child.

Despite the taunts, discrimination and even physical danger he must face every day because of the crime, Matt struggles to find friends and bond with his new family...as well as reconcile with the life he fled in Idaho, upon the threat of separation from Katie after the death of their parents.

Like any teenager, Matt makes mistakes...some of them utterly stupid. Yet no matter the situation, it's clear that none of his actions are from malice. Despite his youth, Matt McKendrick is "one of the good guys," destined for greatness.

This is the second of four books.
