Grade 6-10-- This new offering in the series follows the standard format and includes no surprises. As with the others, the emphasis here is on history, politics, and government presented in a clear, factual, though somewhat textbook-like style. The volume is well researched and includes a useful "Facts at a Glance" section to aid report writers. The book's major shortcoming is the quality of the illustrations. For the most part, they are poorly reproduced and add little to the text beyond filler. This series is written for the same age level as the "Enchantment of the World " series (Childrens). Both are solid offerings and should be purchased by libraries in which the ever-popular country reports are a standard feature of the school year. --Trish Ebbatson, Delaware County District Library, OH
