This review is from: From Argentina to the World (Audio CD)
In tango music there is before Julio De Caro and after Julio De Caro. A violin player and a master arranger who was brilliantly backed by his brother Francisco De Caro on piano, he raised the level of tango instrumental music from the traditional styles of Roberto Firpo and Francisco Canaro, making possible further developments by other great ones such as Horacio Salgan and even Astor Piazzolla. Probably nobody played instrumental tango better than Julio De Caro before, during or after. The De Caro brothers were also great composers, creating immortal numbers such as "Boedo," "Mala junta," "Copacabana," "El arranque" by Julio, and "Flores negras" and "Loca bohemia" by Francisco. They also collaborated to write "Mala pinta." This is one of the best compilations of Julio De Caro's recordings. You won't be disappointed! The great genius Charlie Chaplin (a Julio De Caro admirer)once danced to "El Monito" when De Caro was on tour in Europe (included in this collection)!
