For the product itself I find this to be a good dependable brand. However, I can buy 3 35oz containers at a local store for the same price that's listed here for one. Why so much more on Amazon?

I used Cornstarch for my gravies. The only Cornstarch that works using very little starch is Argo's. I've tried them all and I've always gone back to Argo.

It seems like we go through cornstarch by the pound in our house & I've never seen a contain like this in the store. Most flour mixes use it like Artisanal Gluten-Free Cooking One of the best mixes I've used. AS an added bonus for those that recycle we reuse the container for the gluten free flours or chocolate chips once we've opened the bags.

Didn't use for cooking but for making an experiment. I think the right term is a non Newtonian fluid. For those of you that are like me and had forgotten about such things after high school science classes were over, it means that if you poke something into it slowly it acts like a liquid, and if you slap your hand down it seems solid. All we did was get a container and mix the starch and water. The kids loved playing with this mess. If I had let them they would have played with it for ages. If you have kids and they claim boredom when school is out, try putting up with the mess for a day and "teach" them something.

What an amazing product! I should have bought the package of 4 then I would have one for Cooking, One for Cleaning, One for First aid, and One for Playing!

Corn starch is a staple in my pantry and I always buy Argo because Argo corn starch is 100 % pure corn starch, never has left a metallic taste in any food I prepare with it, and it is produced in the USA.

Corn starch is a natural, odorless carbohydrate found in the corn kernel. Stored in the container it comes in and kept dry it will last indefinitely.

Corn starch has many uses including; a thickening agent in cooking, added to cake recipes it makes a lighter more tender cake, is an ingredient for homemade baking powder, is great at removing oil stains from clothing or leather, can be used as a gentle abrasive to clean pots and pans, mixed with water to form a paste it will clean silver or relieve hives and rashes, can be used just like baby powder, added to bath water protects the skin, can even be used as a dry shampoo for you or your pet, and can be used to make a homemade clay for crafts and jewelry.

Hints for Cooking:

1. Remember when cooking with corn starch, bring to a full boil and then boil 1 minute but only 1 minute while stirring gently. This will ensure that the starch granules have swollen to their full capacity. Don't boil any longer or the starch cells might rupture and cause the mixture to thin as it cools.

2. To substitute Corn Starch for arrowroot, potato starch or tapioca use the same amount called for in the recipe.

3. To substitute Corn Starch as a thickener instead of Flour, use half as much as called for.(2 Tablespoons of Flour is equal to 1 Tablespoon of Corn Starch.

4. Corn starch blends more easily with cold water than flour.

Though it was as requested, if you do some digging you'll find much better values for cornstarch, in the store and here on Amazon.
Just check the amounts vs. the pricing.

I use this corn starch for making fizzy bath bombs. This container size allows for making several batches before running out which is nice.
