5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best concerts ever
I was at the Lakewood Theatre in Dallas Friday June 4, 2004 for the recording of this album - it was a historic night. One of the best and most underrated bands in rock played a 26-song career-spanning set that was nothing short of amazing. This is simply one of the best albums you could ever buy. A must-have.

2.0 out of 5 stars New to Blue October. Music not what I expected
I just wanted to write a review from a newbies standpoint. My first taste of Blue October's music was with their newest CD Foiled. I LOVE it and was very excited to get another. I purchased Argue With A Tree based on all the rave reviews it got and I was really dissapointed. The music was harsher and not as complex as the music on the Foiled CD. A lot of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Live Blue October, May 19, 2006
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
If you have never heard Houston born, San Marcos based Blue October before and you can't go right out and see a live show then this album is the one for you!
A live show will keep you buying their music and going to their shows for the rest of your life. They rock, hands down. Justin brings so much of his personal life into his lyrics that you can't help but identify with the pain and struggle he's dealt with. And not only angst ridden songs grace this album; the album features a couple of more upbeat, even "fun" songs, such as Italian Radio and Breakfast After Ten (great break-up song). This live album also includes the hit "Calling You" which was featured on the American Wedding soundtrack.
I have been a fan since my first live show back in the late 90's and they have never let me down. Justin, Jeremy, Ryan, Matt and CB all bring the house down with each show and each song. If you buy this album (and you should!) you must FOR SURE buy "Foiled" to go with it...and "History For Sale." And if you still don't believe that this band rocks, go to VH1 and watch their video "Hate Me." It is climbing the charts in leaps and bounds.

An old H-Town fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Talent, December 5, 2006

No other way to explain how much Blue October's music has helped me. It has brought me closer to the the band and has allowed me to be who I am today. Magnificant lyrics, awesome bass, violin, piano, etc. It is a whirlwind of encantations that have allowed me to shed a tear and even embrace my world as I know it. Justin, a pure genius right by his own experiences brings you into his world and allows you to listen to his own fears and failures.

Never in my life have I ever purchased more than one album from any given artist. Justin and the boys have graced my ears. I now own 5 of 5 albums. One "Argue with a Tree" a live version of History for Sale and Consent to Treatment combined into one. Had to have it!

I am only sorry that I will have to wait a few years before they come out with a new album. For now I have everything including Foiled... now if I can just get my hands on his Last Wish (5591) albums...

I am and will always remain a faithful fan! -Thank you, Justin! You rock my world!

Rockstar,

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic live album, November 18, 2009

I really do not like any of their studio recordings. Hate is a strong word, but it might not be strong enough for how I feel about them. If my exposure to Blue October had been through a studio recording instead of this CD, I never would have given it a listen or the group any further consideration for that matter.

This two disc CD, particularly disc one, is really good and ranks as one of my favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST live DVD i've seen by a LONG shot, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
This DVD is just truly beautiful, i've watched it on youtube several times, and now i've bought it, it's WELL worth it, Justin is a great person with passion and inspires people by making music, very respectable musician, and this DVD really shows his and the bands energy, and it is such a great and powerful energy, the first time you watch this you're going to be blown away, I've never been so drawn into a live performance as much as i was, a bit hynotic really, the audio is also flawless, the camera angles are greatly done, I could go on and on, I just wish that there were other bands that express their emotion and passion as well and as powerfully as Blue October, Silverchair's the only one I can think of that comes close (try "emotion sickness"). Other than that, everything else is weak and constrained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for your Blue October collection, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
I am generally not a fan of live cds but this is literally the best live performance on cd that I have ever heard. In fact, I prefer the live version of some of these songs such as Inner Glow, Italian Radio and Somebody. If you are trying to get some of the band's earlier stuff, some albums are no longer available but Argue with a Tree is a double cd that includes almost all of their best to that point.

5.0 out of 5 stars touched my heart, May 9, 2009
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
This is the music I have been waiting for all my life. There are raw emotions, the great voice and expresion of Justin, the pain, the joy , the rage he can express, I can feel it in my mind and my heart. I wish I had heard of this band before. I have now the collection and I never get tired to hear it. Before I go to bed I listen to them every night and it makes me whole again. That someone as talented as he is exists makes my world. I am always waiting for another album, But I am not just a collectionist. I am a fan, I love the lyrics, the perfect instrumentation. I particularly like their style, at the beginning I thought it was an Irish singer because some of the music has Midland tunes. But then I realized is an original like I never heard before. I particularly liked the PRN violin feat, it brought me to tears. All the music of Blue October touches a chord in my heart, I atune with the words and I feel the feelings , the passion and love. I really admire this band but specially Justin. He really has expressed in each and every song what we people of these times have gone through and how we have our ups and downs and manage to come to the surface once again. Thank you so much for existing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this, you want to., March 3, 2009
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
Usually I'm not that big a fan of live CD's. They're fun for a bit, but after you've heard them a bunch of times, they tend to disappear on your shelf for an undetermined-but-very-long period of time.

This CD is an exception.

The energy and emotion captured so wonderfully on the DVD manages to come across on the album, too. I was swept away when listening to this CD just as much as I was when watching the DVD and even now, countless of listens later, it still has that effect on me. This live album will definitely never join the other ones in their sad, half-forgotten fate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blue October - Argue with a Tree DVD, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Argue With a Tree (Audio CD)
This is the BEST music CD I've ever seen. Justin Furstenfeld's emotions in this DVD are exceptional. It is his life in song, and just watching him singing some of his heartfelt writings give me chills to see his emotions out there for all of his fans to see. Blue October is a great live band to see in concert. I highly recommend this CD to anyone.
