Just Okay,

For the money ,the Argus DC 1500 is okay. Keep in mind it doesn't have a flash or a window to preview the pictures. It takes 20 high res shots and 80 low res. I haven't even tried the low res because the high res isn't that great. If you're looking for a digital camera for e-mail than this camera will serve that purpose. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. I did really like the software that came with the camera. The Arcsoft Fantasy Photo is alot of fun to play with...

Read the manual and it will tell you how to make this camera a webcam also! So you get 20 352X288 HiRes, 80 low res pictures. Eight and 2 second AVI clips, very fun software for superimposing pictures, printing stickers or labels, AVI software and a webcam for teleconferencing through Netmeeting or anyother teleconferencing software. Light weight, runs forever (almost) on 3 AAA batteries. Ya, duh, it doesn't have an LCD display or flash or zoom, but for the price you get all the other stuff and then some. Shop around, I got mine for $39.

After reading a couple other reviews I was not expecting a lot from this camera. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. It's easy to use. It installs flawlessly in W98SE. The photos are actually quite good. It doesn't have a flash, so don't expect to take photos in low light. The software that comes with it is very nice. I actually unpacked this camera and had pictures on my computer in about five minutes. If you don't have a quick, convenient way to get photos into your computer this is an excellant low-priced option. It does do a short video clip also, which astounds me for the price of the camera. This is a great way to get started with digital photos.

I ordered this camera so I could send photos to friends and family by email. That's what it does and quite simply. PLUS, it cost me less than [others]. Comes with progams to make it fun, but I just use it for the pics.

DIGITAL DILEMMAS!!,

I think this product is true.. you do get what u pay for.. but for the price i payed, you'd think there would be better photo quality! and simple directions for the codes to take the darn photo! what a hassle, and a letdown this camera is. The mode button is kinda easy once you figure it out, but no way to set your own resolution.,.. so the photos come out Very hazy. even with the software, its aweful. If you dont hold the camera at a certain angle, slant, straight,PERFECT distance,It Looks Like (...).one photo will come out so-so, the next nothing! the next yucky.. the next..omg! you have to be Right on top of the subject to have it come out somewhat decent. there is No flash, you have to have PERFECT lighting.. such as.. if you take a photo with a little light at your side,or in the FAR distance .. It doesnt come out.. i HATE THIS CAMERA! (...) I RATE IT A 2.. FROM 10.. BECAUSE ONLY THE PRICE IS GOOD, AND ONLY SOME PHOTOS COME OUT "IFFY"

DC1500 Good Starter Camera,
By RAZ (Ypsilanti, MI USA) - See all my reviews

I just purchased the camera from Office Max in Ann Arbor MI for about $26.00. I bought the camera for my 4 and 2 year old daughters, since we are going to Disney World this coming weekend. It is perfect for my 4 year old daughter and she is very excited about it. The quality of the pictures, of course, is not the best, but for the price I was expecting worse. The camera description on the outside of the package it came in does not say for outdoor use only. You quickly discover that it cannot take pictures inside unless you have a lot of light. It works perfectly with Windows 98 or 98 Sec. Ed.. I was surprised to see that it came with a 9 pin serial connection , which is used on the 95 and NT OS, and a USB connection. It is very easy to use and my 4 year old can use it without any problems. This will save us a lot of money instead of her using or 35 mm camera and then paying for the film developing and purchasing more film so she can take more pictures. It is a great way for her to learn about the digital cameras and more on the computer. It is a great camera for your kids and if they break it you are only out the 26 dollars or so. Well worth the money if you have kids that like to take pictures outside. This will save you a lot of money on film processing. Hope you find this useful.

Just by buying this camera you have save yourself some money. With this camera you can take pictures and also record a 12 sec. video. It doesn't have an expandable memory but the pictures it takes are fine. The camera doesn't weight a lot so it is easy to cary around. It is also small that it can fith in my pocket. This camera is great I recomend it.

Not worth my time, let alone my money,

Despite what the documentation claims, this camera is not supported by Windows XP. windows XP installs its own drivers before the camera has a chance to install its own drivers, and then it takes forever to override Microsoft to install the proper drivers for this camera. If you don't really know what you're doing, you'll never be able to install this camera on XP.Not that that's a bad thing. Because once you jump through all the hoops to install this guy, you wonder why you bothered. The picture quality is miserable, (espcially in video mode--I think my daughter's Barbie camera takes better photos), it shuts off after 30 seconds of not being in use (so if you're trying to take a posed picture of a baby, *forget* about it!), and it doesn't come with an AC adapter. Ugh, is all I can say. Ugh. I took this camera back to Office Max the day after I bought it. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of the 1 star my experience says it deserves is because a friend of mine was able to take a few decent outside photos with it. But for me, trying to get this camera to work was two hours of my life wasted.

OK, so you don't get a lot of fancy features with this camera--but for the price it's really quite a nice little bargain for someone who wants to try digital photography! Great to take along on a trip or give as a gift to a young photographer. And it comes with ArcSoft software that you can use to make greeting cards and photo collages with any image, not just the pictures you take with this camera.

Junk,

The picture quality is a joke, but you get what you pay for. Why do you think the price was reduced from $... to $...? The software that comes included is substandard, there is no flash, no zoom, extremely low quality pics, no LCD screen with which to view pictures, and the menu on the back is confusing and difficult to use.
