If you are like me and have been holding off on getting a digital camera this might be the camera for you. Heres why..
Price. This camera can be found for a street price of around [price]. This is a very good price for a 1.2 MP camera.
Resolution. This camera can take pictures at a max resolution of around 1280 x 1024 or 1.3 megapixels. while 1.2 MP does not...

2.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For
This camera is a perfect example of you pay for what you get. I bought this camera, because I thought it was a steal at the sale price. This camera has no real on-board memory. You cannot take 1 high-resolution picture with out a compact flash card. The pictures are grainy at best and forget about low light pictures, because you wont see a thing. This camera is o.k...

If you are like me and have been holding off on getting a digital camera this might be the camera for you. Heres why..
Price. This camera can be found for a street price of around [price]. This is a very good price for a 1.2 MP camera.
Resolution. This camera can take pictures at a max resolution of around 1280 x 1024 or 1.3 megapixels. while 1.2 MP does not equal the resolution of a good 35mm film camera ( you would need around a 5 MP camera to get that) it is perfectly acceptable for most snapshots you would print on 3x5 prints.
Usability. I consider myself to be very comfortable with technology. But a lot of digital cameras I have seen seem very clunky to me, this camera doesnt. In fact the jog shuttle control is very intuitive and can be operated with one hand.
Flexibility. This camera allows the user to connect the camera directly to any device with a standard composite video connection with an INCLUDED! cable eg: TV, VCR etc. This is great for those times where you want to show off some pictures but dont have access to a computer, or when the computer screen would be too small for everyone to gather around. I think this is a GREAT feature for a lot of people. Another nice feature is that the camera uses 4 standard AA batteries, they are affordable and you can get them anywhere (a big plus when youre traveling).
I strongly suggest that if you get this camera you pick up a compact flash card to go with as the internal memory is very small. These cards are affordable and reusable ( around [price] for a 128MB card that will hold around 100 high res pictures or thousands of low res ones). Also consider a compact flash to USB reader. While the camera does come with a USB cable to connect to a computer getting a separate reader ([price range] street price ) saves the camera batteries and speeds up the download process.
Overall I am very pleased with the Argus DC-3200. I think it strikes the right balance between price, features, performance, and usability. I highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice digital camera, August 1, 2002

Works quite well for the money. The pictures are bright and sharp and the little wheel on the back makes it easy to switch between camera mode and other modes. A nice feature is that you can turn the TFT back display on and off easily to save battery life. The downloads are quick on the USB cable. Battery life seems to be very good. Included software is nothing special but works okay. The camera only comes with 0.5 mb of memory built-in so you have to use it with a CompactFlash card. A 64mb CF card will hold 64 full resolution pictures and 936 pictures at the lowest of six resolution settings. Don't get the camera without also buying a CF card.

Don't waste your money on this camera. The pictures are horrible.
Even worse at the higher resolution. Spend a few more dollars and get something else.

This digital camera is amazing for the price. It has Date/time mode, 4 flash modes, self timer, white balance, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff, plus it doesn't use up much battery! OK, so the resolution is not #1, but what can you expect from 1.3 megapixles? Once in a while a couple pictures get messed up, but that's not a big problem. Overall, its a very good value and I recommend it you.

(i am 14, really... maybe you've seen my other 3 camera reviews.)

This camera is HUGE!! You will not believe how huge it is. And it's only 1.3 megapixels. Takes crappy photos. Steals 4 batteries at a time. Small screen. Do not buy.

But if all that still didn't stray you away (you shouldnt even be looking at a 1.3 megapixel camera, anyway) the fact that it broke down on me should. I was on vacation, OF ALL TIMES, when it wanted to stop working. So it did. And it never worked again. I've tried new batteries, throwing it on the floor, everything. So, it sucks. :[

This camera is good for the money. It is good for the person who will mainly use it just for e-mail without very much zoom. You can print photos as long as you keep the photos not much larger than 5x7. Has built-in flash, LCD, and Compactflash Card slot.

1.0 out of 5 stars You don't want this!, November 18, 2002

This is exactly the same as the Vivitar dsc350... Which I just returned yesterday!
First of all, the flash modes are a little strange. Example: In a dark room, the flash doesn't go off. And, you and up with a dark picture.
-That's not so bad, as it keeps you from noticing the fact that the pictures are completely awful.
I've tried every lighting condition, and every resolution, and 9 out of 10 pictures are either blurry -or speckled looking.
It seems to have a preference for it's focal range -another reviewer wrote "This is probably the worst camera I have ever bought. You cannot take any pictures closer than about 5 feet."
I'd like to add to that statement in saying that you can't take pictures much further than 5 feet either.
It also claims to have a pc-camera (or webcam) mode. Really? I was able to set it to such, but the drivers for it don't seem to exist ANYWHERE! Not on the disk, not on the manufacturers website, and no-where else. I guess it's somewhat irrelevent -seeing that I get better image quality from my webcam!
I do have two positive things to say about it though...
1) It connected, and was recognized by my computer without trouble (for image downloading).
2) It uses AA batteries -so you don't have to get special types -that you won't have any use for after you've returned this attrocity!

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends, November 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Argus DC3200 1.3MP Digital Camera (Electronics)
I bought this camera to use recreationally, as I have never had a digital camera before and wanted to see what it was like. It is, obviously, one of the cheapest cameras you can get. It does well for the price you pay, in my opinion. I would recommend getting the compact flash card, or else you can only take about 6 pictures on low res before it is full. The camera has worked well since I bought it, and transfers very easily to computer and TV viewing. If you're looking for the "perfect" picture, then you'd better go with something a little pricier and sophisticated. This camera would probably be sufficient for someone new to digital cameras.

This is probably the worst camera I have ever bought. You cannot take any pictures closer than about 5 feet. It has absolutely no ability to focus closer than that. The rear LCD display is just as bad, with no resolution. My $$$ webcam takes better pictures.
