4.0 out of 5 stars Good Overview of Post-Arius Arianism, April 3, 2009

This review is from: Arianism After Arius: Essays on the Development of the Fourth Century Trinitarian Conflicts (Hardcover)
This is a good overview of the status of "Arianism" after its namesakes' demise. Not all the essays are equally engaging for the general reader, but provide a broad overview of the theological, liturgical, semantical, political and cultural impact of the raging doctrinal issue of post-Constantinian Christianity. I found the discussion of Athanasius' ambiguous opinion about Marcellus of Ancyra interesting, though ultimately we can only conclude that perhaps the Alexandrian opted for diplomacy over theology (which for Athanasius would be quite a tunraround.) A good addition to the patristic doctrinal debate fan's library.
