Best One Yet...In Arizona,
This review is from: Arion In-Case Humidifier (Electronics)
Have had a variety of in case hunidifiers for my two classical guitars. Latest was a combo of two OASIS heavy duty humidifiers I had for each case. In Phoenix, Arizona - with its low hunidity and opening and closing the case for practice etc - I was rarely able to keep the humidity above 37-38% using TWO in each case. Also meant I was filling these up every 3-4 days.
Recently had my action adjusted by a luthier and he advised the arions. I bought two - one for each case and over the past week have watched and monitored the humidity levels. (I keep a hygrometer in each case) Each case/guitar is consistantly at 47-52% using ONE ARION in each case. I detect no leakage - which was my other concern. However after filling them with water - you do have to wait until the gel swells to capture the moisture - so you have a few minutes before you can toss these back in your case. Arion suggest you add water every 1-3 months. Have not had long enough to know if that is true...so far MUCH longer than OASIS though. I do not know the longevity of the gel and ARION suggests replacement each year - while that sounds steep - will wait and see. As of today I am satisfied as this product has done the best to date at providing in case humidity among the 10 or so products I have tried.

best case humidifier imo,

i am very satisfied with this product.by far the best i have used, i do not like sponge type humidifiers, sponges collect bacteria and make cases smell bad or create wood growths etc, with this product this is more the likely prevented, no odd smells in my cases anymore from using this.this product helps maintain humidity, just one might not be enough though, depending how often you open and close your case, you might need more then one which is fine and described on the packaging.

...the point is the two Arions I have do not work...,

I live near Prescott, AZ where the humidity over the last month has ranged from 18% to 20%.
I put one, then two Arions in a Gator GWE-Dread-12 case (with my Seagull Rustic CW) - they did not raise the humidity even one percent in one week nor did they lose water. I put an Oasis OH-6 in the case and it at least keeps drying out rapidly but cannot keep up - not it's fault - more than one is needed for this dry climate - the point is the two Arions I have do not work! I have verified and then re-verified my hygrometer is working correctly. I then put both of the Arions in a gallon baggie and zipped it closed with my hygrometer inside just to see if they give off any humidity at all and it took them 24 hours to raise the humidity 2%. And yes the Arions are fully charged with distilled water. Unacceptable - these get one star only because Amazon does not allow zero stars.

Efficient and Easy to Maintain,

This review is from: Arion In-Case Humidifier (Electronics)
I purchased this humidifier based on previous reviews. I am really glad that I followed other's recommendations. This has been the most efficient and easy to maintain humidifiers I've owned. Living in AZ, our humidity levels are always low, and trying to use the tube humidifiers were just a pain. I've found that it takes about 30-45 days to deplete the moisture, and it only takes about a half-hour to re-absorb the fresh water. I keep my guitar in its hard case as much as possible, and I find that the tone is more rich and that the guitar stays in tune longer.
I highly recommend this humidifier for anyone with an acoustic guitar.

Easy way to humidify acoustic guitars while in their cases,

I must admit after purchasing the Arion In-Case Humidifier I had some doubts to how well it would actually work. Just didn't make a lot of sense to me that ya fill it with water, wait for the gel to absorb it, seal it up, and put it in the guitar case that somehow it was suppose to humidify the inside of my guitar case. Well, still don't really know how it does that, but it does. I had to prove it to myself so I put a humidity gauge inside my case before I added the Arion - reading was 28%. Then put my guitar and the Arion in the case, along with the gauge, and when I checked the gauge the next day the humidity was at 46%. So it does work. All that is required from that point is to keep an eye on the Arion when you open your case - if the gel has shrunk down significantly just add some more water and you are good to go. Small investment to keep your guitars in top playing condition.

Our house was very dry over the winter months, and my poor violin was getting all dried out and loosing its tune. Once I got this in-case humidifer the problem was solved! No more turning tuning pegs everyday! Only issue I had at first was not letting the gel absorb the water completely before turning it on its side. It will leak! But if you allow it to absorb, absolutely no leaking. Just read the directions and don't get excited early and turn it over before it's ready and it will work like a charm. Definitely would recommend.

This is my first review ever, but this product is so bad that I feel compelled to warn people to save their money. My hygrometer barely budged even when putting two of these in my guitar case at once. Do yourself a favor- go to Walmart and spend $2 on a travel soap dish and a sponge. Drill a few holes in the top of the dish, wet the sponge and put it in the soap dish. Put this 'humidifier' in your guitar case and you get 40-50% humidity.

I became a Dampit user when I bought my first Taylor guitar, mainly because that's what Taylor recommends. I live in the high desert in Southern California, and my problem was that I had to soak the Dampits almost daily because they dried out so quickly. Since my wife and I had a longer vacation planned, I had to come up with something else. After a little research, I bought an Arion. I filled it with water and waited for the gel to absorb the water; then I put it into the guitar case with my guitar. After three days, I found it wasn't raising the humidity at all. I went back to my Dampits but left the Arion in the case. A couple of weeks later, I noticed the water level in the Arion had gone down slightly, so I took the Dampits out and monitored humidity again. With 25% room humidity, a single Arion is now keeping the guitar case at 40 - 45%. I've re-filled it once already, and it's still going strong. I guess they take a while to start working, because I just bought a new Arion for my other guitar and I'm experiencing the same thing. I'm kind of wondering about the 5 star reviews which implied the Arion maintained humidity from day one. Is this really the case, or did more people experience the delay before the Arion started working? If it wasn't for the delay, I would have given it 5 stars.------------- After more than six months of using the Arion humidifier I'm ready for something else. I downgraded my rating to two stars because it seems every time I refill the Arions, it takes a week or two for them to start working again. Again, once they start working they work well, but it's that week or two after a refill that I'm concerned about. They won't even raise the humidity in a sealed zip-lock bag during that two week period.

I have an acoustic guitar and inside my guitar case I have a digital humidity meter. In the winter when I have the heat on in my house I used to read adout 34% humidity.. I added two of these Arion humidifiers in my case and now I read about 51% humidity.. Yeah, they work and they are easy to use..
