Product Description

Size: 70W | Style: Home Theater PC Speaker

The AR504 3-piece soundstage speakers with wireless remote control brings you easy-to-use, high quality audio to your home. Everyone who appreciates music in a home environment cares about stereo soundstage. A good set of 2.1 speakers should seem to disappear, replaced instead by a spatial arrangement of music sources or soundstage - filling the space from left to right. It is the soundstage that makes the difference between just passively watching and the "being there" experience. The secret to great soundstage? Glad you asked. What makes the Arion Legacy 504s great are in the way they're constructed: precisely placed bass reflex port for enhanced lower frequency response; rigid wooden cabinets for clean, punchy sound; stiff cone materials that withstand rapid vibrations for crystal highs; and heavy duty magnets and coils for long-term durability. All these components work together to bring you high quality sound that few plastic multimedia speakers can match. And because it is designed with large PC monitors and HDTVs in mind, we figure you would appreciate its convenient wireless remote control (for quick, simple, audio adjustments from the comfort of your chair or sofa), and industry standard RCA and 3.5mm audio inputs (makes extending audio cables to and from your audio sources very, very easy).

The secret to great sounding speaker lies in the way it
High quality sound
There are no proprietary cables. The Arion 504s use industry standard RCA input that easily connect to most HDTVs, DVD players and gaming consoles; its 3.5mm input is designed to plug in to most desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. In case you are not sure which type of connection to use, we got you covered with the included RCA to 3.5mm audio cable which works for both type of connections. And because these speakers use industry standard cables, you can easily extend them when needed.
Designed for home audio with easy connections
Powerful 35 Watts RMS (Peak 70 Watts)

Many people assume that the higher wattage system is going to sound better or give them significantly more volume. This is only correct up to certain point. Without going too far into the details, power (wattage) doesn't translate well to our ears and can impact perceived loudness and quality. The peak power (70 Watts) ensures this set of speakers has enough power reserve for brief explosive passages of sound or music. What you want to focus on is the real, continuous wattage measured in RMS (which in this case is 35 Watts RMS, designed for constant use to produce sound without incurring damage over long periods of time) and the way the speakers are constructed (which determines its sound quality).

High Quality Sound

The secret to a great sounding speaker lies in the way it's constructed. The AR504 uses proven technology to bring you high quality sound: wooden cabinet, stiff cone materials, heavy duty magnets and coils, and precision cut bass reflex port. All these components work together to bring out as much detail as possible in your favorite music. The AR504 produces deep bass and crystal clear highs, with a wide frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz. More importantly, this set of speakers is tuned to reproduce accurate sound, meaning your music will sound not just loud, but detailed and natural.

Designed for Home Audio with Easy Connections

There are no proprietary cables. The AR504 uses industry standard RCA input that easily connect to most HDTVs, DVD players and gaming consoles; its 3.5mm input is designed to plug in to most desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. In case you are not sure which type of connection to use, we've got you covered with the included RCA to 3.5mm audio cable which works for both types of connections. Because these speakers use industry standard cables, you can easily extend them when needed.

Subwoofer-mounted Dancing Light Show (and Controls)

Take your music and sound to another dimension with the blue-colored LCD display mounted on the subwoofer. Its bars move up and down with the beat of your music, adding a nice touch to the ambiance. So crank it up to hear and see the music. Last but not least, the ET-AR504LR-BK also comes with subwoofer-mounted controls so you can adjust the audio settings the old fashioned way.

Convenient wireless remote control
Convenient Wireless Remote Control

I needed speakers for my office to play music through iPhone as well as PC. My first criteria was they must have full spectrum range (20Hz-20KHz) and that usually also means it need have dedicated bass speaker (i.e. 2.1 system). It just surprised me to no end that almost all 2.1 speakers in market including the expensive ones from well known companies like Logitech did not actually have full range! Infect after thoroughly looking at current line of products from Logitech and Creative I really think that they are ripping off customers by selling highly priced speakers but really weak in technical specs. Many time these companies actually don't even publish this fact visibly and you have to dig deep in to their websites to find technical data. The 2nd criteria was that the speakers should have at least 10W of power. In my view, speakers that you intend to keep 3-4 feet away and that have less than 5W of power don't sound much better than laptop speakers because they will need to run at 50-70% of volume and all the distortion that would occur at higher end. The 3rd criteria was magnetic shielding because speakers would be placed near computer equipment. Although with LCD screens this really doesn't matter but still having shielding is nice. My 4th criteria was price should be less than $100 although I was little flexible here to shell out more money for better speakers.

Now the ONLY speakers in market that not only meets all these 4 criteria but also exceeds them are Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR.

Sound Quality: These speakers are UNBELIEVABLE. Quite a few of my colleagues who came to my office and listen to these speakers were simply blown away with the clarity, quality of bass and crispness.

PROS: Very easy to setup & use. Trebles are clear and bass are deep, it sounds on par with the more expensive Z4 that I have hooked up to my wife's PC. Now that I am building another HTPC for myself, I decided to give Eagle a try and couldn't be happier. Couch potatoes like me will really like the wireless remote control (for those LOTR fanatics, you know how loud the movie can get and I needed a quick way to turn down the volume and/or to quickly boost treble/bass during the quieter part of the movie).

CONS: User manual had typos. The RCA audio cables coming from the satellites are too short. I mean come on!! my arms are longer than that... Okay - that was annoying but not a deal breaker since i just picked up a pair of RCA audio cables for less than $2 at local radio shack store. The other thing is that for some reason my speakers would turn ON with the volume all turned up. I later found out that it actually RESETS the digital EQ whenever power is turned OFF. What the [...] ARGGGG~ again, annoying but not a deal breaker since I just left them ON all the time, no biggie.

CONCLUSION: If you were looking to spend around ~$100 on a set of name brand speakers then this one will probably do the job just fine, while saving you some money. Amazon's free shipping makes this a complete steal. Mine arrived in 2 days & no shipping charges. Just wow!

First let me preface my review with this: I am a recording engineer and a sound designer. My opinion of these speakers is not subjective. I have listened to literally hundreds of speakers, most of which are professional reference monitors that cost 50-100 times more than these. That being said:

1. These are not Reference Monitors.
2. These are not Home Theater Speakers. (They could be used as such, but aren't intended to be, In my humble opinion.)

These speaker are however simply the best 2.1 Computer/MP3/iPod/iPhone setup I have heard for the money. I challenge anyone to do better than these... really.

-Tight, balanced high, mid and low frequency replication: Not Bose boomy, Not Logitech mid scooped, not Harmon Kardon brittle.
-Fairly compact
-Loud: How loud? ...Loud enough, trust me.
-Clean and clear even at 80% volume.
-Remote control
-Treble and Bass cut/boost

-No Power button on remote
-Short speaker wires (3.5 feet)
-LCD Display is very, very bright.

Consensus: Buy it.

I believe the best way to tell two speakers apart is by listening to them side by side so I know their strengths and weaknesses.

Each of the speaker is hooked up to an HTPC that I have setup for each person in my family, in their own room, over the years. Granted, some of the older PCs had nicer audio add-on cards (unlike the newer machines all use built-in audio on the motherboard) and each room has different furnitures affecting the accoustics and all that technical mumble jumbo, but I made sure all were sending line-level audios without any EQ adjustments. I also played back using the same movie LOTR for consistency.

Here is how I would rate my speakers:

Expressionist >>> volume B, treble A+, midrange A, bass B (about 119 dollars)
AR506 >>>>>>>> volume B, treble A, midrange A, bass B (about 59 dollars)
Z4 >>>>>>>>>>> volume A, treble B, midrange B, bass A+ (about 99 dollars)
Companion2 >>>> volume B, treble C, midrange C, bass C (about 89 dollars)

To my ears, the AR506 sounded very good thru most of the movie. The highs (Nazgul screeches) were clear but not as bright as the Expressionist (here the Expressionist wins). The midrange (most of the vocals and foreground music) was excellent, rich and natural. The lows (background war drums, rumbles, etc) were tight & deep but lacked the raw power of Z4 (here the Z4 wins with thunderous lows but they sounded a little bit loose/boomy). The worst performing speaker of all these was actually Bose which sounded muddy, what a shock! In terms of volume I would say all speakers offer more than adequate OOMPH for a normal sized room of about 20x20 feet with 5 people sitting in it.

*** Update 7-15-2010 *** I just had to revise my review to reflect the following NEGATIVES:

#1 Wires.
