5.0 out of 5 stars one of the greatest crust bands ever!
Amebix never ceases to blow me away! This album sets the stage for such hardcore and metal acts as Neurosis, Sepultura, Misery and countless others! The wave of crust punk to follow has changed the underground music scene forever. anyone into metal, or punk of any type should get this along with their legendary(and out of print on vinyl) MONOLITH, which is their best...

3.0 out of 5 stars Moody Crust punk album that pushes the musical envelope.
This 1985 release is a groundbreaking accomplishment to meld punk, metal, and slight elements of electronic music together in one package. After listening to this release, one would begin to understand how the current state of music was influenced by this band. Take for instance Neurosis, probably one of the biggest bands out there that found their calling after...

The wave of crust punk to follow has changed the underground music scene forever. anyone into metal, or punk of any type should get this along with their legendary(and out of print on vinyl) MONOLITH, which is their best ever. The only draw back is that this has a barcode on it, and the art and lyrics are very small. "...Get off your knees...the kingdom of heavon must be taken by storm...ARISE!!"

After listening to this release, one would begin to understand how the current state of music was influenced by this band. Take for instance Neurosis, probably one of the biggest bands out there that found their calling after hearing Amebix. Call them what you want, but with "Arise", Amebix created a genre of sonic violence, and poetic beauty that will last into the next decade, and millenium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anarcho punk pioneers best release, February 19, 1999

This band set the stage for the following wave of "crust" type bands. The music is blistering punk mixed with the best ingredients of metal. The vocals are cancer inducing. I find the content of the music very inspiring with lots of lines that goad the listener into libertarian revolutionary thoughts. No Gods, No Masters!
