A Great Little Compilation for a Good Price,
By Jim Dempsey (San Antonio, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Arista Heritage (Audio CD)
This Arista Heritage's compilation of some great Alan Parsons Project hits is a nice sounding CD and I would recommend for the casual listener of the band. It has the standout hits such as "Games People Play" and "Eye In The Sky" as well as the great underrated "Prime Time." Pick it up!

....got into Alan Parsons via listening to my older brothers' LP of "Turn of a Friendly Card" (which in my opinion is primo synth-pop-goth rock) when I was not so young and not so impressionable, I guess...This great Arista Heritage collection has enough APP to make one seek out "I Robot" or "Eye in the Sky" or "Turn..." or "Vulture Culture" for a full frontal treatment. Eric Woolfson gives vocal to most of the tunes presented here. My favorite on this is "Time"...all are sound engineering perfection. If you love the Moody Blues or Al Stewart you will dig this....

Great inexpensive example of a master's craft,

Although i've only heard two records by the Alan Parsons Project (I Robot and Pyramid), they were more than good enough to get me to pick this CD up. Plus, the fact that it was only around 10 bucks was even more reason to get it. This CD has all their more famous songs, like "Wouldn't Wanna Be Like You" and "Eye in the Sky", but it does has some really great songs. The thing is, this group was so good at writing songs that you wouldn't mind hearing on the radio at all, so they worked out so well for every lover of great 70's and 80's music. Songs like "Limelight" and "Ammonia Avenue" are just two examples of excellently executed music. The latter is very good, the singer Eric Woolfson (also sole co-writer on every tune here with Parsons) was a great singer, and the mid section was kinda simplistic as compared to other progressive rock/concept albums of its day, but it's effective, it's interesting, and it's very listenable. Buy it if you love this music, buy it for the price. I hope other labels do compilations like this.

my father in law introduced me to the alan parsons project so i went out and bought this cd at a music store.great songs at a great price.i wish they would've put "don't answer me" on here but still this has a lot of great songs on here.some songs have a pink floydish sound to them but after all,he was an engineer on pink floyd's "dark side of the moon."
