Doesn't cut it...,
By Vinyltown (Northampton, MA) - See all my reviews

My least favorite of all the Hall & Oates CDs. I actually have the two on one CD of Ooh Yeah! and Change Of Season. It really pained me to listen to the whole thing. Run of the mill music. My favorite is still Whole Oates.

Album For 2,

It sometimes just amazes me to know when people overlook great music. It is always for what is the popular scene today. People would rather see Manufactured Madonna's like Britney Spears, and fake Rap performers that pretend to be Street and instead are just a little bit out of control. That is how I think people forget great music when they hear about it. That actually comes with the case of Hall & Oates. They have been an absolute dynamo duo for well over 30 years, and their music still continues to pack a punch today. The music is still just as amazing as you could expect. Although many look at their RCA years as a big challenge, they've truly continued to score big without the rankings of RCA. Unfortunately, a lot of people wouldn't see it that way.Hall& Oates Master Hits, is just a compilation from their Arista period in the late 80's and early 90's. The music is just as real and dynamic as you could expect from the duo from Philly. The record just compiles within only 2 albums, Ooh Yeah, and Change Of Season. The songs are still just as exciting as they've been with the RCA period but it stands in a class by itself, with songs like Downtown Life, Everything Your Heart Desires, Missed Opportunity, So Close, Change Of Season, and Don't Hold Back Your Love. The songs are great and really should get more attention when it comes to the credit that Daryl Hall & John Oates put into making this music. Although the Master Hits doesn't compile the 1996 record, Marigold Sky, it still doesn't add up to another difference. Hall & Oates are still one of the most amazing Rock duo's of all time. This music might not matter, but it sure worth adding on for any die hard fan, and any new fan too. I just know that people will enjoy this to the mix as much as I've enjoyed it.

The best of two latter day studio albums gives you a very good feel of what great songsmiths these guys were. Its a shame that these albums didn't sell. It ranks with the best they've ever done! Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Very reasonably priced and great Pop Music. Enjoy!
