Aristocats Almost Complete Soundtrack Best thus Far,
By
This review is from: The Aristocats (Audio CD)
I have always collected Disney soundtracks and have always been waiting for more releases of soundtracks such as The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Sword in the Stone, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. Always the ones never being released. I do own the other version or should I say song EP called Songs from the Aristocats that features She Never Felt Alone.. which is oddly missing from this version! Not sure why it isn't inlcuded on this cd release... the sound isn't the best that is certain... I doubt it went under any audio restoration like the other Disney soundtracks that have been released in the U.S. This cd has been released by Walt Disney Records in the UK under distribution by EMI records and it is NOT a bootleg. It is a legal copy.

If you love the movie, you'll love this soundtrack. Songs are mostly authentic and sound great. We were not disappointed.

I'm a Disney animated films cannon collector: dvd and soundtracks! I debated a lot whether to get this and am now very glad I did! Like stated in another review...great music, but not a complete restoration, fuzz is sometimes (barely) heard. 2 curious things about it: "She Never Felt Alone" is missing and the soundtrack is NOT in chronological order. Very important for me, I like to listen to Disney soundtracks in chrono order while the movie plays in my head. Snow White to The Jungle Book have all been in chrono order; every modern-day soundtrack, starting with Oliver & Company, is, for the most part, songs first then instrumental tracks. The Aristocats follows the latter. No biggie, I've placed the tracks in chrono order after loading it on iTunes, and included the track "She Never Felt Alone" from the Songs Of cd for a complete soundtrack. A great point to this soundtrack is that the track "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat" is the same as the one from the movie (much longer), unlike the same track on the Songs Of cd, which is abridged and cut short. Finally, the lyric book is great!
Don't delay, get it!

The Aristocats is a wonderful story about a pampered feline named Duchess, who lives with a well-to-do Paris woman. Duchess & her 3 kittens are kidnapped by the arrogant butler when he finds out his employer plans to leave her whole estate to her cats and not him!
With the help of Thomas O'Malley the Alley Cat, the 4 furry family members must find a way back to their owner. In order to make it, they needed the help of well-known Disney composer George Bruns, who had previously scored 'Sleeping Beauty' and created the wonderful 'Once Upon A Dream' song based on the original Tchaikovsky melody. This marvelous Disney score is what you'd expect from a Disney film; lots of wonderful songs combined with an orchestral score. There is no shortage of songs here; like other Disney films the main title is a lively melody. 'O'Malley the Alley Cat', sung by the lead character as he introduces himself to Duchess & her kittens, is a jazzy, swinging melody, along with 'Ev'rybody wants to be a Cat' - my personal favorite. 'Scales & Arpeggios' is a lighthearted tune sung by the 3 kittens during their music lesson. Unlike previous Disney soundtracks, there seems to be less of the (orchestral) score included here - I became used to seeing the almost full score in other Disney soundtracks. That's not to say this recording isn't enjoyable - it's lighthearted, fun stuff. Still a must have for fans of the Disney movies & songs.

If you love the movie, this soundtrack is a must because it includes songs you can't really find anywhere else. "Scales & Arpeggios" was a favorite for my daughters and so we had to have this CD. However, it only has maybe 4 or 5 songs that you'll want to play over and over; the remainder of the songs is mostly instrumental bits.
