5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource on a critical text in literary history, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Aristophanes: Myth, Ritual and Comedy (Paperback)
How can one fail to be interested in Aristophanes? Specifically, texts like the Clouds or the Frogs reveal a satirical look at mythic-historical figures like Socrates or Dionysus, whose literary influences are unending. Bowie expands the conversation by seeking to view the plays as originally seen by Athenians, while at the same time noting classical influences and readings.
