I've owned several vaporizers over the years, including the original Volcano. The most obvious difference between the two is the price, but there's also a difference in the way you use it (well, the way i use it).

Bags
The Volcano is a bag system, and even though this has a bag system, this is definitely the weak part of the Arizer. The Volcano bag system has an autoseal mouth, so when you're not inhaling from the bag, it seals automatically. I use to fill a bag up, and sit down with it and smoke it over a 10-15min period. With the Arizer, this is less enjoyable because the smoke escapes the bag when not in use (or when you're not sealing the tip with your finger).

Filling the bag with the Arizer is more troublesome as well. With the Volcano, you sit the bowl in the Volcano, let it run for 5 secs or so so that the herb warms up and starts releasing the vapor, then connect the bag in so you get more smoke and less air. Unfortunately with the Arizer, you attach the bag to the bowl, and then put it into the vaporizer, and then turn it on. This can be a problem because it can take 10sec or more for the vapors to be released, and in that time your bag is filling up with nothing but air.

Bowl
The problem comes down to the bowl, the little thing where you put the herb in. With the Volcano, the bowl is a hard piece of plastic and metal, and with a large enough diameter that whatever you put in there, won't stick together when heated and then cooled. The bowl also attaches the bag to it much easier and is just a far better bag experience than the Arizer.

The Arizer bowl is tall and narrow, like a tube. This means that when you put your herbs and and heat it, then when it cools, all the herb in there stick together, so that you have to use the glass stir rod they provide to stir it between each use. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if the glass bowl/tube didn't get so darn hot. Not only that, but the mesh that goes into the bowl is very loose, so half the time when i stir it, the mesh tips and all the herbs dump through to the other side.

As a baggy system, the Arizer is a failure (at least compared to the Volcano).

The Whip
Where the Arizer shines, and is why i prefer using the Arizer over the Volcano, is in the plastic hose/whip that comes with it. This whip attaches to the bowl, and what i do, is just turn on the Arizer for about 5-10sec, or when visible smoke starts coming out of it, then i inhale out of it like a hookah. I don't have to waste bags (because eventually the bags get so stank with smoke and other junk that inhaling it is disgusting), and it's just more convenient for me to turn it on, inhale out of it, then turn it off.

However awesome this method is, it's still far from perfect due to the bowl, because like mentioned earlier, you have to stir the content nearly after every use, and it's infuriating how careful i am in stiring it, that i still often tip the mesh and herb fall through and get ruined (and if it falls into the Arizer, i can't imagine it would be good for the device).

If they could somehow create a Volcano type bowl for the Arizer, one that can still use the whip, this would be the perfect device. The glass and stainless steel gives the Arizer an almost medical look to it (which is great!).

So for me, the Arizer is better than the Volcano. Mostly because i am cheap, and because i like the whip. But as for recommendations for others, i've always recommended the Volcano. It's just a far simpler device, and for people with medical conditions or who i know will get frustrated with the Arizer's bowl system, the Volcano is what i recommend.

Another thing they could do is add more whips to the Arizer, because it's disgusting sharing the whip with others.

I bought this directly from Arizer from their website for the same price. The Volcano is supposed to be the best (I've never used it) but I can't imagine it's better than this, and certainly not twice as good although the Volcano costs twice as much and even more for the digital version. Extreme Vaporizer from Arizer customer service is the best. They answered my emails immediately, even when I sent then at night and they were as helpful as possible.
One warning: The extreme uses the strongest top quality glass available so the vapor never comes in contact with plastic, teflon, wood, aluminum or other metals which can give off harmful toxins or bad taste. The glass keeps the vapor tasty but be careful because even the strongest glass can break and glass is not covered by the warranty. I knocked mine off a table and broke the glass heater cover. It is possible to return the whole unit for repair at a cost of $40 (which covers the repair and return shipping) or you can purchse the glass heater cover for $25 and repair it yourself (which I did but it wasn't easy). All the other glass parts are external and easily replaced.
If you are careful with the glass, you won't find a better value

Great Unit, four minor problems, VERY MINOR

1. Bottom portion, of the main bowl, way too hot to handle. New handler may get hurt.
2. The 90 degree glass elbow, inserted into the top of the main bowl, has a small metal screen which clogs up. Frequent deep cleaning a must for best results. Easy to clean w/Rubbing alcohol
3. Unit needs a heavier base( being real picky)
4. So many options require several parts. You won't mind but safe storage is a must for all the glass parts.

You will not get bored with this unit. So many choices and all work
to perfection. Remote is a must, don't lose it, it's that good.
Unit is ready for use in a matter of a few minutes(2).

In response to the person who said this vaporizer was junk, you're absolutely wrong. This vaporizer couldn't be any better. Excellent craftsmanship. Quality parts like the temperature controller coupled with the glass and stainless steel make this vaporizer bomb proof. I had excellent communication with the company regarding the purchase. They couldn't be more helpful. I've been using this vaporizer for almost a year without fault on a daily basis. The remote comes in very handy. The LCD screen is easy to read and use. The multipurpose utility of the vaporizer gives it an even better edge on all other vaporizers. I've looked at and used all other competitors products and can say without a doubt that this vaporizer give you more value at a cheaper price. It's warranty is extensive. It's features are above and beyond all others. I know i'll be using this for years to come. I highly recommend this vape.

I have been saying for several years now that I needed to get a vaporizer so that my lungs could get a break. Only problem is that I could never find one that was affordable without skimping on quality. After a long while of scouring reviews on the internet, I cam across the V Tower Extreme. I was a little skeptical as to how well the item would be seeing as how I had bought a vape online before and it ended up being a total dud. The vape arrived within 3 days in proper packaging. It took a few minutes to separate and sort everything but after that it was all smooth sailing. Personally I prefer using the bags, but overall the vape is a magnificent work of art. beautifully crafted glass on glass and though I first laughed at the remote, Ive found it hard to live without. In fact, this morning I had everything set up so when I woke all I had to do was click the remote to turn it on, and by the time I crawled out of bed the bag was ready for me. Have to give this product a 5/5 for sure.

Recommended temp: 240 w/ Fan 1...stir the bowl after 5 hits

This bad boy, does exactly what the Volcano does. I think it uses less herbs than the 'Cano, but I'm sure you can put minimal amounts in the Cano. The whip is fun to use, especially when you pack the elbow and turn it up a notch. Doesn't take that long to warm up, but if you let everything warm up for a few mins, bowl and herb, you get nice vapor. Only negatives, no valve on balloon mouth piece, but really just get a rubber stopper from the hardware store for like 5 cents. Ohh and be careful with glass pieces, they will break if dropped on the floor. No biggie, but I personnally start to stress out if I don't have more than one of all the glass pieces, its like the end of the world for me, I need to double bag, yadada mean!!
Buy it you won't be dissappointed, no need to save up for a Volcano, ohh and I was so hesistant about picking this up vs. the Cano' no regrets, I love this product!!!!

There's no need to pay more to get the best. This baby comes with either a bag attachment or a three-foot tube attachment, digital temperature control, and a remote control. It's easy to use and extracts ALL the active ingredients from my legal herb. I've done combustion smoking tests to see if there's any punch left after a couple of runs through the vaporizer and . . . NADA.

I have used alot of different vaporizers. The Silver Surfer, and Da Buddha vaporizers, the Volcano vaporizer, a few box vapes, and vapir oxygen mini... out of all these the Extreme is my favorite, for two reasons, the design and the quality. I got mine from an ebay seller and it was the standard package which comes with everything you need, two glass bowls/heater covers which is great incase one breaks or you want to have one pre-filled to be used when the first bowl is finished. You can use either the bag-delivery system, which is EXCELLENT and the direct whip inhale is also EXCELLENT, and can be used on-demand by inhaling or even you can turn on the fan speeds to have it push the vapor for you! I should also mention that it is the only vaporizer on the market with a remote control! And it has a very nice LCD with menu controls so you can disable the sound or blue led light at the base, or change the temp display to either C/F, among other things. Finally it comes with an aromatherapy potpourri attachment which is great for concluding a session and leaves the room smelling mighty sweet. I should note that I received the V3 version (only difference between the versions is a slightly different max temp settings)

I would purchase this vaporizer again if anything bad ever happens to mine for the following reason. High quality metal/glass components, mass of features including very handy remote, very efficient design and most importantly alot of fun to use!

People have gone over the nice functions so I will just comment off the cuff after saying I do like this but it has some drawbacks as in order to do so many functions compromise was engineered into the design . First the bowl does get hot and you have to be careful taking things apart after using it ..especially when taking off the top to stir the substance used . You get matter that sticks in the top cap cover and when you stir you must get this out ..it often makes a mess . It takes a while to cool down so you can change bowls .I literly keep a light brown garden glove next to it now . As for me changing tips when sharing with others is very hard especially as the medical tubing ages and gets more brittle . This happened fairly quick too like after a month . The glass parts get sort of fused in as time goes on there should be quick release fittings of some sort . The only real way would be to have extra whips for everyone not just tips which adds to cost and then mess from debries in that top cap . Medical tubing isnt cheap about $[...] a foot so you really have to sit around the machine if your in a group not wanting to use bags . Again using the bags is not easy like the volcano quick connect method to fill and take off its way more involved . With my disabillity its hard to handle these steps and work the tubing as well as agrevating . On those tubes it doesn't take long until they have deposits built up in them and they will turn dark if you let any combustion take place . You must buy a extra whip for each substance you use in the machine . I agree with the other reviews this is a nice machine . I love the 3 speed fan with a whip and remote to control it . I hate cleaning the screens and the worst offender is the top screen in the whip end . It is a pain to change and clean . I just use my gas stove , let it combust on its own then tap out the ashes . Depending what is put in it this is necessary daily or more for me . For all its faults I feel it was worth it over the Volcano but its close and a personal judgement . The cost is about half for the arizer extreme so you do have allot of money to customize the whip delivery area or improve it but their are higher maintenence costs . I myself prefer a whip but the volcano bag system is very , very simple and nice . I wish I could set this up with a similar conect set up but I am no glass blower it would take some difficult mods . I also would like to see a longer whip obviously if you buy one of these your going to have to figure replacing tubing so you can see where in time the cost increases . The more parts the more things that can break . Another issue or problem with this is packing it up and keeping track of all the parts . Being very ill thats a headache to consider especially because many parts are glass . ( I love the stir tool they enclose very tough ) . I didn't get the powerpack becuase its very expensive . I use a car jump pack with a built in inverter and plug it in . I get several runs that way my jump pack charges by car or 110 outlet . Worked great during a power outage we had . Since the jump pack has more then one use and is cheaper I feel its the way to go . This machine isnt perfect . It is very nice and one alternative . The glass parts are not break proof but very sturdy . I had hoped it would be the one and only end all for me but it has its draw backs . Quite Frankly the Volcano is a easier machine to keep clean , and use . The Extreme does have more functions though with some sacrifices in doing any one thing perfect . I hope to see more improvments in this device as time passes . I agree Arizer is very consumer friendly . I believe they will sell many of these machines its a great effort for a new pruduct in a very competitive growth market . My occupational therapist was very impressed by the aromotherapy delivery again you must use different bowls and tubing for diferent substances . You will have to buy some extras for this machine long term so expense to operate may not be less then some initially more expensive machines . God Bless .
