The Arizona Legal Research Guide should not serve as a general guide to legal research. The guide, instead, is intended for those already skilled in legal research, but needing assistance with Arizona materials. Much of this material has been ferreted out, for Arizona does not have many of the sources larger states may take for granted. There are, for example, no Arizona state legal encyclopedias and treatises in many major areas are yet to be written. Practitioners rely mostly on state and county bar publications and analogize to California law when needed. Often an individual is the "key to knowledge" in this state than is a printed source. About the Author

Kathy E. Shimpock (formerly Kathy Shimpock-Vieweg), President, Juris Research, Tempe, Arizona, has extensive research experience as a lawyer and law librarian in both the practice and academic spheres. She has published numerous articles and spoken widely on research, technology and library issues. In addition to her law degree (J.D.) from the University of Wyoming, she holds a Masters in Law Librarianship from the University of Denver and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University. She is a member of the State Bar of Arizona.

Marianne Sidorski Alcorn has been a Reference Librarian at Ross Blakley Law Library at Arizona State University College of Law since 1980. Prior to this position she was a Reference and Circulation Librarian at the University of Washington Law Library. She has taught legal research annually through the Arizona State University, Center for Executive Development paralegal program. She holds a BA from the University of Washington and a M.L.S. from the University of Southern California.
