5.0 out of 5 stars Ex Employee, March 1, 2009

This review is from: The Ark III - Survival Kit - One Person For Three Days. (Misc.)
Many years ago I worked in sales for the Ark.I was Fired. I was not really a salesman.I really loved the job, but I was more interested in the product and the survival lessons that I was taught and failed to pursue the sales portion of my job.
One of the things I recommend is purchasing a kit and using it when no emergency exists. The reason for this is to determine if you really like the food and everything that comes with it.It will also allow you to become accustomed to the food. Remember this is survival food so its going to taste a little different.
They would bring us the food directly from the bakery and it tasted so good,it was really a treat.
I did allot of demonstrations at the malls and would hand out samples of the survival food. Most people liked it, but there were some that really turned there noses up at it.They did not understand the concept of survival food. I think they were thinking it would taste and feel like cornbread.
Their space blankets were also very impressive to me. I cut them up in approximately two foot squares, and would ask people to hold out one of their hands and I would wrap their hand in the space blanket. Most would pull there hand out because they did not know where the heat was coming from. The space blanket reflects the heat back to your body.
One last thing. They used to have a survival book that I though was really good.If they still sell it it would be something you should pick up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Product I never want to use!, January 16, 2007

Preparing a disaster kit was made easier, ordering and adding the compact ark to it. The price was one of the best for similar kits on other sites. The contents of water, emergency blanket and emergency food rations (good till 2011) fit neatly into my duffel of flashlights, personal items and tools. The only thing that could have been better is the Super Ark but I had most of the additional items in the upgrade. I will note that the additional items cost me more time and money to collect than the price of the Super Ark. (buying them indiviually things expire at different times also) Once I found how much this product fullfilled the need, I gave the ark III out as presents, to encourage others to be more prepared for the unexpected.

There are so many emergency kits out there, some that include medical supplies, light sticks, whistles, etc., it can be paralyzing to decide. In this price range, I personally decided I'd rather have the basics -- food, water, and a blanket for 3 days, than a fancier kit for one-day. The food and water is what expires and needs to be replaced every 5 years, so I prefer to use a modular approach - the Ark (and replace it as needed), then all other non-perishables (flashlight, medical supplies, whistle, radio, etc.) separately. At home, I always think -- oh, I'll have enough water and food, but there are many times when I might not (like when I need to go to the grocery store). So, I keep the Ark in my car as I figure my car will most likely be wherever I am - on the road or in my garage, at home. I bought a couple of Arks 5 years ago, one for myself, one as a gift. I ended up having to through it out as it expired, but it was peace of mind for 5 years. I'd say if you are procrastinating doing your emergency planning because of the cost, it's too overwhelming, or you want it to be perfect - buy one of these now and throw it in your trunk. You'll have the basic for 3 days, and you can always add to it as time or finances permit. Good luck! :)
