5.0 out of 5 stars Neal Leon Weaver - a new voice with a full heart, October 4, 2000
By
This review is from: Arkansas (Audio CD)
Neal Leon Weaver is a singer of ballads, a teller of stories and most of all a lover of God. His style has hints of Roy Orbison and of the fab 4 (Beetles) and yet is uniquely his own. Each song comes from his heart and into the heart of the listener. "Arkansas" the title song is a tribute to his father, his first and continuing super hero. Every child and every grown son should be able to feel like that about his father. But my favorite is "Beauty and Freedom" that captures the wonder of creation and the personality of God expressed even in the tiny rain drops. The words are beautiful and the music suits them perfectly.

"The Ballad of Wendell Wright" joyfully invites the hearer to get "carried away in the spirit" the message here is of a joyful life changing experience available to all. "A Simple Sort of Melancholy" expresses the heart cry of the child of God who finds that he has missed the Father's mark or of the sinner who is finding Christ for the first time. With this song too the tears and longing for Christ's restoration are in the music every bit as much as in the words.

Many have compared Neal Leon Weaver's music to Stephen Curtis Chapman and Chris Rice. I can see the similarities but I also see a greater variety of style and range than I personally have heard with them. I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves God or wants to get to know Him and likes music with a hint of rock and a heart of truth.

Not only is he a great english teacher but he has a great vocal talent. From what i heard so far, I think it is really awesome. It takes alot for someone to get me to like country music, and I have to give my english teacher a lot of credit for this one! It a wonderful sound to listen to. I definitely reccommend this cd to anyone wanting to hear talent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting Arkansas, November 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Arkansas (Audio CD)
The cd 'Arkansas' is an uplifting combination of poetry and guitar, somewhere bewteen folk, pop, and soft rock with a strong Christian theme. I can really relate to theses songs. My dad is my superhero (Arkansas), and I am always awed by God's power, especially that of storms. (Beauty and Freedom) These are songs that everyone should have a chance to listen to, from the most devout believer to the weary Christian. Mr. Weaver has been blessed with such a talent, and he's given it back to God in each of his songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Collection, October 11, 2001
This review is from: Arkansas (Audio CD)
What a fun collection! The assortment of styles is most enjoyable and I find myself singing with every song... I like songs that I can understand the words...after all, how can you hear the message if you don't know what's being sung? I've also seen Neal live and I don't know who has more fun...the audience or Neal!
