Book Description

1996
A guide for river runners to the Arkansas River in Colorado, from the town of Granite downstream past Buena Vista and Salida, and out toward the Prairie at Canon City. With many photographs, the book tells about river access points, which rapids deserve scouting and from which side of the river, and contains descriptions of the river itself. There's discussion of the geologic past in this region, which brought us the Rocky Mountains and this river. Real topographic maps, not line drawings, show the entire run.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

A vigorous river through rugged country, the upper Arkansas has some of the best kayak water in the nation, then pool-and-drop water in a series of canyons. From the Royal Gorge, the river emerges onto the prairie.
