My phone went flying off and hit the road.

It doesn't work on road bikes, I took out the screw that clamped it together and put a zip tie through the holes to keep it on.
Jrmy
This holder works great, is easy to put on and remove and can be used with multiple bikes.

I decided to purchase this Arkon bike mount in hopes of having my Nexus 1 in front of me and acting as a heads up display for use with the android app. "Google Tracks." I wanted to be able to see the distance I've traveled at a glance as well as average speed during my travels. Although I initially had my doubts about the unit and the phone's security it faired pretty well. If you intend to be on paved roads or smooth graveled trails you will have no problems. If your taking this on more rugged trails with intense impacts I would highly recommend using a Velcro patch to keep your device from shifting lose as well as installing the mount vertically. The rubber pads along the sides are good for average riders. Hope this review helped a little bit and happy riding.

I bought this to secure my G1 to my mountain bike. The spring-loaded flanges that hold onto the sides of the phone are weak and a bad design to begin with. The phone is only gripped on two small patches on either side.. hold your phone with your thumb and forefinger like this and then jerk your arm up and down and you'll see what I mean, if you hit even the slightest bump it will go flying. I hadn't even made it out of my driveway before the phone had popped halfway out of the mount.

Add to this the fact that the G1 sits very high, nearly 2/3 of the phone is out of the holder, and it is not a very large phone. A much better design would have added a bungee cord or some other means of wrapping around the front/top of the phone.

On the up side, the base that comes with it is nicely adjustable for different viewing angles, and you can slide the phone mount off the handlebar mount.

Unfortunately this is one of the only phone holders on the market, so I'll have to modify it to work securely. So, I probably should have just made something from scratch to begin with.

I purchased this Arkon smartphone mount through a third party (Charger City). After installing it to my bicycle's handlebars and inserting my smartphone into it I set out on my ride. After hitting the first small bump in the road my smartphone went flying and crashed onto the road causing damage to the phone. I was quite annoyed that the manufacturer didn't provide any way of securing the phone to the mount other than the two arms which hold the phone by spring pressure. I checked Arkons website and found that the current models come with a bungee cord to hold it to the mount. I called Arkon about a month ago and was told that some of the older units didn't include the bungee and that they would send me a bungee. As of today I have not received the bungee.

This product exceeded my expectations! It's nice to know there is a smartphone accessory not specifically geared toward the iPhone. This holder works great, is easy to put on and remove and can be used with multiple bikes. One thing to keep in mind, fat handlebars could be a problem. It doesn't fit on my carbon fiber Cannondale road bike.

It is not very big to hold a large cell phone. For most of the cell phone, it is wide enough to hold them safely. I have tried it for my Dell X51v PDA and it is too wide to fit in.

I bought this to use with my Suzuki Intruder motorcycle, holding my HTC Droid Eris to utilize the GPS navigation.
Had no trouble installing it, and it stayed secure up to 90+ mph (behind the windshield). It worked great.

However, the only trouble I had was that the windshield went almost directly vertical up above my phone and the windshield at this angle must be distorting the GPS signal, constantly searching for Satellites.

The product works great, and has an adjustable width. Just keep in mind windshields may disturb Satellite signals.

Very happy with the phone holder. My phone did come out it thogh when I hit a big pothole on my bike. It needs a strap on it to prevent that from happening again.

But don't go onto uneven terrain at all. Your phone will unexpectedly fly away. Hopefully it has a great case. It fits nicely on the handlebars and locks in seemingly tight, and maybe on a road bike it's great, but I occasionally hop a curb on my mountain bike en route to a paved path or road.
