I bought the Garmin Nuvi 350 in March '07. I'm an occasional GPS user and not a road warrior. The Garmin mount was sub-standard in every way compared to the Arkon model. The Garmin mount would constantly lose suction and fall from the windshield (I had to loop the power cord around the rearview mirror so that when it did fall it would be dangling and not crash on the dashboard/floor).

I have not used the adhesive disk from either Garmin or Arkon for dash mounting.

I bought this to use with my Garmin Nuvi 360. The mount that came with it was nothing but a problem. It kept falling off the windshield especially during hot weather. When it would hit the dash it would release and launch my GPS into the air. Finally the old Garmin mount broke. I bought this one to replace it and haven't looked back. It is a much sturdier design and feels more durable. Well worth the price.

The Arkon TravelMount keeps my Nuvi affixed to my car's windshield. The stock Garmin mount does not. Any questions?

The Arkon unit is well designed, well made, affordable and easy to use.

Garmin should be ashamed that such a critical aspect of their products' usability is crippled by their own equipment. Garmin should source the Arkon mount. Better to lose a few dollars in profit than to lose customers. I had almost given up on using my Nuvi in my car!

I needed a new suction cup mount for my Nuvi 205. The one it came with broke after about a year. The suction cup where it attached to the spring had a tear in it and wouldn't stay on anymore, so when I'd be driving, the darned thing would pop off almost causing me numerous accidents. Lucky enough for me, I found this mount. I first went on the Garmin website to check it out and see if that was what I was looking for, but they were asking for $30 more than I wanted to pay. Wouldn't you know it, I go to Amazon and I find the exact same product for $30 less than what they wanted for it on Garmin! After reading so many great reviews about this mount, I knew this was the one I wanted. I'm happy with it.

As for those few reviewers that stated that they are not sure why it's not sticking to their windshield: If this monster suction cup will not stick to your windshield, first get yourself a paper towel and some windex (that's the blue stuff in the squirt bottle used to clean glass), clean and dry your inner windshield. Make sure you also clean the suction cup with some rubbing alcohol. Then try sticking it on again. Should stick.

I agree with other reviewers that this suction-cup mount is sturdier than the original that came with my Garmin Nuvi.

The suction cup also covers a larger area, so it is less prone to suddenly pop off the window and crash somewhere between my feet at 65 mph.

Make sure you still have the bracket that fits *around* your Nuvi. On the back there should be a round hole. The ball on the end of this suction-cup mount will snap into the hole. If you don't have the bracket, you need to purchase that in addition to this item.

Compared to the original mount that came with the Garmin GPS, the suction on this one is much better. It fit the GPS exactly and has been very sturdy so far. They SHOULD have sent this with the original GPS instead of the cheapo.

I have a Nuvi 350, which requires the Garmin swing-arm mount to accommodate fold-out antenna (also required for Nuvi 300 series & other fold-out antenna models). The Garmin swing-arm suction mount fails (drops off the windshield) way too often, despite cleaning both windshield & suction cup. That DOES NOT HAPPEN with this Arkon mount, which is much better constructed & has excellent suction quality. (Still make sure your windshield is clean though.) It's also ~$7 for this Arkon versus ~$12 for the inferior Garmin swing-arm mount. (3/24/11)

This Arkon mount has the correct ball diameter and will work with almost ALL OF THE NUVI series. So if your Nuvi GPS has a habit of falling down, cure the drunken bum with this excellent suction mount!!

Based completely on the reviews here I placed my order for the GN115 at the same time as the GPS unit.

First, kudos to Amazon's shipping system, although the GPS and GN115 started out from different parts of the country, they did arrive here in the same delivery two days later.

The mount that shipped with the 1350 GPS is about 1/2" smaller in diameter than the Arkon, and is not adjustable. The Garmin suction cup mount is reasonably "sticky" and comes with a double-sided adhesive sticky-disc dashboard mount. It's not awful; it just isn't great.

The Arkon base is 3" in diameter and the sticky base material is of heavier-duty thickness than the Garmin, slightly more pliable and well, sticky-er.

The adjustable arm is notched so when you tighten the arm in place it stays in place. The tightening knob is deeply knurled and is easy to use. The GN115 also comes with a self-adhesive dashboard disc. (That;'s that round thing shown under the mount unit in the product picture.) The disc is for mounting the base somewhere other than on a windshield; most dashboards are too porous to mount the base by itself.

In informal tests in my car using various surfaces, the Arkon base adheres tighter than the stock Garmin unit when the tab is down and is more stubborn when trying to release the mount. It really sticks!

For adjustability and stronger "sticking power" this GN115 is a real winner.

Bought this to replace the original Garmin mount. The old suction cup never held that great, but got really unreliable recently. This mount is great!!! The suction cup is larger and stronger. The ball mount is a perfect fit. Works excellent with my Garmin!!! I would definitely buy this again!!!

This is a much sturdier mount than Garmin's and works very well. It is a little more difficult to adjust, but I believe it will last much longer.
