Love this mount. Sturdy and built well. Like other reviewers here, I didn't see the need to use the included hook. Six hours after I received the mount and was enjoying it in my car, I was involved in a car wreck. The airbags didn't make contact with my face, but the mount sure did. Smacked me right in the noggin. So, get the mount... and use the hook. That is all.

Arkon SM212 Friction Style Mobile Phone Dash Mount

I bought the SM212 mount for my G1 (HTC Dream). I think it would accommodate nearly any phone - certainly any 'bar' style smart phones like the iPhone or BlackBerrys. The holder rotates so I can view the phone's display in landscape mode when using navigation software.

The mount holds it's position on my dash board without any problems even though I decided not to install the additional hook that came with the kit.

I have recommended the mount to friends and family members. It's an excellent choice at a competitive price.

This is a great way to hold a cell phone (mine has GPS driving software) without using a suction mount on the windshield (which is illegal in some states, and a tell-tale sign to thieves have a GPS in the car). It is simple but effective.

I bought this for my Palm Pre. My only complaint is the it blocks the charging port of the Palm Pre when the keyboard isn't slid out. Otherwise it is a fantastic mount. I prefer it to the Garmin friction mount I got for my Nuvi GPS. It is a lot heavier and seems to stay on my dash better. What I like most is that unlike the Garmin mount, this one allows you to use whatever suction cup mount you already have for your device. You can just clip the suction cup mount onto the base of this and it sticks on very well without being impossible to remove. It also includes a hook mount to prevent it from sliding around on your dashboard, but I didn't need it.

I got this for my phone (HTC myTouch). The holder has a nice firm grip even with other bar-typed phones (I also tried it with my son's BlackBerry and it works quite well). The rotating holder allows me to view the phone screen in landscape when I use my phone's GPS. The additional hook was unnecessary because the weighted mount can really hold its position well on my dash board. I highly recommend this product - excellent quality with an affordable price.

I've had Arkon mounts for previous cell phones and purchased this one for my new iPhone. I didn't have a spot in my car to actually install and mount a cradle so I decided to try a weighted friction cradle instead and of course going with Arkon was a great choice. Very well made and sturdy. Looks good on my dash and the best thing is all I have to do is just take it off and throw it in the back seat or the trunk whenever I want. No messy double sided tape, Velcro, or having to screw it into the dash. I like this product and would recommend it to a friend. Good job as always Arkon.

I recently downloaded a GPS app for my iPhone and needed a dash mount for it so I can use it as a GPS. I wanted a movable mount that I can take with me when I travel or move from car to car. I also wanted a sturdy mount that would grip the iPhone and have a low center of gravity. This dash mount met all my needs. The only thing I don't like is the suction cup since it periodically looses suction and comes off. I would like to see a hard connection instead. However, overall I am very satisfied with it and would highly recommended.

The Arkon weighted friction dash mount is just what I wanted. It sits neatly on my dashboard and has a low profile so it does not interfere with my vision of the road. It is well made and sturdy. It has not shifted since I placed it there and it holds my IPAQ Travel Companion firmly and without any vibration. Recommended.

I bought this for my iPhone 3G and 3GS and it works great on both phones. It also works great in both my cars (Honda Accord and Honda CRV). The friction mount does not slide around on the dashboard even without the clip that you can stick onto the dashboard. The phone stays securely in the holder. I have not had the phone fall out while driving over the past two months. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I have been searching for a car kit that could handle my iPhone with the case on. I have an iFrogz case on it. I decided to try the SM212. And boy am I happy I did. It is perfect. I also have a weird slanted dash and the SM212 has no issue staying put. The adhesive on the dash clip did not stick to my dash (yes, I cleaned the dash). However, I had some better double stick adhesive which worked fine. Still a fantastic product. Highly recommended.
