Book Description

May 1, 2009
The fantasy artist famous for the FAVOLA series of books is back with a metaphor for hope in the shape of a fable where child-like fantasy contrasts with the feeling of isolation and alienation which invades our every day life. Lyrically and suggestively painted, a visual poem of fascinating sensuous gothic beauty. For mature readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great art book, March 24, 2011

This review is from: Arlene's Heart (Hardcover)
This is an awesome art/story book! It differs somewhat from Frances' gothic, Favole vampire series, but it is just as disturbing and beautiful at the same time. The book chronicles a journey of Arlene, a beggar girl who died and is looking for her heart. The images and the writing throughout the book are thought-provoking and make you think about the "dark" side of society. The book has a happy ending, but it is Arlene's journey that the reader identifies with in the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not her usual style, but VERY powerful and moving images and story!, February 11, 2010

Let me begin by saying I just LOVE Victoria Frances's work. She is SOOO talented. This book isn't her usual style. The imagery and art and deeply moving on a personal level and will have something for everyone. Some images are painful others joyful....this book is about life, living, the good the bad and scars we receive through life's journey.....this book touches me on a very personal level...I LOVE it!!
