Lowest Abrasivity of all Toothpastes!, September 16, 2005
This review is from: Arm & Hammer Dental Care Baking Soda Tooth Powder - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
As a dentist, I look for a number of things in a good toothpaste:
Fluoride
Good Taste
Low Abrasivity (won't scratch or wear enamel).
This toothpaste has all the above, and it has the lowest abrasivity of all toothpastes, mainly because it is 94% baking soda! I give it a 5-star rating for being an ideal toothpaste.

SLS free, January 2, 2004

This review is from: Arm & Hammer Dental Care Baking Soda Tooth Powder - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
I tried this product because it is SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) free. SLS is the detergent in almost all toothpastes that create the suds when you brush. However, SLS has been linked to canker sores, and switching to this product has virtually eliminated the problem. Well worth a try.

Long term use review, November 29, 2005
This review is from: Arm & Hammer Dental Care Baking Soda Tooth Powder - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
I have used this product since the mid-1980's when it was only released to a few U.S. cities. Within months, my dentist & hygienist started commenting on my superior dental care. My wife and I travelled to teach in Asia and had it sent to us. The good dental checkups continued. Previous to using Dental Care Tooth Powder, I dreaded seeing my dentist. Since then, I have had extremely good dental checkups. The product requires a densely-bristled toothbrush or the powder will fall through the cracks. I recommend this product.

My family has been a regular user of Arm & Hammer toothpaste, but we had never tried the Baking Soda Tooth Powder before. My husband was very impressed with the whitening power of this powder and has already informed me that he'll continue to use it. I have to agree with him, but I really like a foaming action a little better. The powder doesn't foam. I guess we will be a two toothpaste family now!

This product took some time to get used to. It was hard on my gums for the first week -- even made them bleed. But after awhile it toughened up my gums, and left excellent, refreshing breath! I'm still using it!

After the first time I used this sort of product, I almost didn't use it again! For the first few times that I used this, my gums were sore and raw from the baking powder. However, now I LOVE it!! My gums have gotten tougher and everytime I brush, it feels like I just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist. It's a little gritty, and it smells weird. Overall, I think that baking soda toothpaste/powder has come a long way -- this is the proof that it did get better!

Well, this was my first time using a tooth powder for brushing. A lot of it got wasted while applying it on my toothbrush. Unlike toothpaste, this was gritty and had a bad taste!! I felt like I put a spoonful of salt in my mouth, although it did leave my teeth feeling cleaner than toothpaste does. If you can get around the grittiness and the taste, then this is a great product. But if you can't overlook those, this isn't a product for you.

60 YEAR-OLD HAS USED THIS PRODUCT FOR 52 YEARS, August 6, 2011
This review is from: Arm & Hammer Dental Care Baking Soda Tooth Powder - 4 oz (Health and Beauty)
MY TEETH ARE SO WHITE AND MY GUMS SO HEALTHY THAT I GET COMPLIMENTED CONSTANTLY EVEN BY MY DENTISTS AND HIS ASSISTANTS. PEOPLE KEEP ASKING IF I HAVE HAD THEM ZOOMED! I AM 60 AND HAVE BEEN USING ARM & HAMMER BAKING SODA ALONG WITH FOOD GRADE PEROXIDE SINCE I WAS 8 YEARS OLD. AFTER SEEING MY GRANDMOTHER USE IT AND HOW WHITE HER TEETH WERE I WOULD USE NOTHING ELSE. MY 3 SIBLINGS THOUGHT I WAS NUTS BUT I'M THE ONLY ONE WITH WHITE TEETH AND HEALTHY GUMS TO THIS DAY.
YEARS AGO WHEN I SAW THIS PRODUCT WHICH HAS A DECIDEDLY BETTER TASTE THAN THE ORIGINAL, I WAS THRILLED AND HAVE USED IT EVER SINCE. IN THE MORNING AND EVENING, I JUST DIP MY TOOTHBRUSH IN PEROXIDE AND THEN INTO THE POWDER WHICH I HAVE DECANTED INTO A SMALL TUPERWARE TUB SO THAT I WOULDN'T WASTE ANY.
MY GRANDMOTHER, LIKE ME, WAS A HEAVY COFFEE AND TEA DRINKER BUT OUR TEETH NEVER LOOKED STAINED...NOT SO WITH MY SISTER AND TWO BROTHERS---POOR DEARS!
I'M SO GRATEFUL TO MY BEAUTIFUL GRANDMOTHER WHO WENT TO HER REST WITH ALL OF HER LOVELY WHITE TEETH. (BIG SMILE)

I didn't like the fact that not much of the powder was evident on my toothbrush. My teeth didn't feel as sparkling fresh. Also, it was a bit sweet.
