Worth Buying If You Like Aerosmith, Otherwise...,

Okay, so "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" is, without a doubt, one of Aerosmith's best songs ever. The new track "What Kind Of Love Are You On" is also very good. As are the Aerosmith classic "Sweet Emotion" and their cover of The Beatles' "Come Together". In other words, this CD is well worth buying if you like Aerosmith (which I do). However, not all of the songs on the soundtrack are that great. The remainder of the tracks are various songs by 70s and 80s artists; some songs were originally released years ago, a few were written just for this soundtrack. Although these songs definately added to the scenes in the film, they just seem unoriginal on the soundtrack. Furthermore, I don't even remember all of the songs on the soundtrack appearing in the film. Chantel Kreviazuk performs a fine cover of "Leaving On A Jet Plane", but did this song really need to be re-recorded? And "Animal Crackers" will make you sick to your stomach. It's bed enough that we have to listen to that stupid dialogue in the film the first time. What's missing from this CD is the majority of the music score. Armageddon had a great score, but we only get a 3 & 1/2 minute sample on this soundtrack. (I realize that the score has now been released, more or less in its entirity, on a seperate CD, but this was very recently.) Overall, if you like Aerosmith, definately buy this CD. Otherwise, listen at your own risk.

One song CAN carry a CD,
By John K (California) - See all my reviews

Personally I didn't really like most of the other songs on this CD. But if you're going to buy it just to get "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", I'd say it's worth it. This is one hell of a rock ballad, if there ever was one, and no matter how many times I listen to it I don't get sick of it. It's Steven Tyler at his finest (the music video rocks too).

More than one good song,

Of course "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" is the song that made this soundtrack so popular and it is a great song, but it's not the only good song on the Armageddon Soundtrack. What makes this one of the best soundtracks ever made in my opinion is that it has some great classic rock songs along with some great new songs. It has such classic songs as Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion," ZZ Top's "La Grange," and Bob Seger's "Roll Me Away." The other songs on this album are also good, especially "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing," "Remember Me," and "Wish I Were You."The Armageddon Soundtrack is a great all around soundtrack and one of the best ones ever made. If you want a great soundtrack, I recommend getting this one.

I love this CD!!,
This review is from: Armageddon: The Album (Audio CD)
After watching the movie, "Armegeddon", I was afraid that the soundtrack would not live up to the movie. Well, I definitely was wrong for this is one of the best soundtracks I own. I loved the movie and I loved the soundtrack equally. Aerosmith did a great job with "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and "What Kind of Love Are You On". I also enjoyed Shawn Colvin's "When the Rainbow Comes", Jon Bon Jovi's "Mister Big Time", Patty Smyth's "Wish I Were You", and especially "Animal Crackers". Last but not least, Chantal Kreviazuk's "Leaving on a Jet Plane" brought tears to my eyes. All in all, this is a wonderful CD and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great combo of different artists, especially AEROSMITH,
This review is from: Armageddon: The Album (Audio CD)
The Aerosmith songs on here are the best, and a great soundtrack seems to have a big effect on me. This is how I got introduced to Aerosmith. You gotta get this CD... not only does it have Aerosmith, but it's also got ZZ Top and Our Lady Peace, buy it!

to all hardcore aerosmith fans:lighten up... so they wanted a number one record...every singer makes the concession eventually: in order to get a hit record, you have to go outside your genre, so they did...but i mean, this is a beautiful song; the orchestral opening with the strings and horns is gorgeous and poetic...dream on was a ballad, and no one gripes about that so was angel ...i have never heard steve sing like that...maybe never will again...i get chills every time i hear this song, and you can hear the guitars just fine, or course the other stuff is ok, too, but i admit , i bought it for that one song...most record companies know that singles dont make money; they were smart enough to wait until there was a demand for it then they put one out...why do you think some artists like mariah and britney can sell a single for 49 cents? aerosmith has proven themselves to be the best american rock band in history, they deserve their success.

A Very Good Soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Armageddon: The Album (Audio CD)
A good soundtrack to a good movie. There are only 4 Aerosmith songs, but two of them are all-time classics "Sweet Emotion" (one of the best versions available) and "Come Together". Of course it also contains the two new songs "What Kind of Love Are You On?" a good song that was an outtake from Nine Lives and "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". The latter is mostly what sold this album and it's not a typical song for the band. It's a ballad, but different from their previous ones, due to the fact it was written by renowned pop songwriter Diane Warren and Perry's guitar does not stick out that much on it. It's not one of the band's better songs, but in live performances it is much better and more Aerosmith sounding. I would buy this. Good songs by other bands include the ZZ Top classic Lagrange, Journey's new sound with Remember Me, and the Armageddon score.
